Actually they told us that they were going to do that with the GM Nightfalls. Bungie won't give you an answer, but let me take a stab at it. Destiny 2 when it was delivered back in 2017 was a "broken" game. Broken in the sense that we were given a game that was designed to play like campaign shooter with a PVP end game.....while the community wanted a PVE-centered, loot-based RPG. Bungie turned things around...but has spent the better part of three years trying to FIX a game that was simply not designed for what we wanted, and what they want to do with it. So the game has always struggled with creating meaningful loot to chase...because the gear perks didn't allow for much variation between weapons and weapon power levels. Since that would make balancing things for PVP more difficult. Add to that Bungie's slow pace of content creation because of development tools that are reported to be very slow and difficult to work with.... [i] So we grind power, becuase that keeps us grinding this game LIKE it were a loot game. Even though the loot pool is very shallow, and the pace at which new things to do are added to the game is rather slow. [/i] TLDR: [i]Bungie is using power grinding as a means to keep us playing a game without enough loot to chase, and not enough new things to do. Which is why the community is getting burned out and feeling that so much of this is pointless. Since power level only basically serves to gate access to content....and because of the gear based system, we get no sense that we're actually progressing our characters. Since the power goes away the minute we take the gear off. ....and our character skill trees haven't had anything added to them in two years. [/i]

Because they somehow think or want us to think grinding is content. They need to realize grinding is just filler between actual content.

I like to work, I like to engage with my Girlfriend, my Family etc. and don’t have time for this shit.

Most of my friends with a job and family like me just quit playing this game because every time they come back, they face a power level wall and are forced to grind same old and unrewarding content just to play a new dungeon or to complete an heroic contact event. And that happens every 3 months... it almost looks like the hours we spend grinding levels instead of loot are more important than the hours playing the content and trying to have fun...

I agree. It's a power fantasy. How is it im getting almost 1 shotted by a level 800 when I'm 1076?

Powers doesn't mean anything in this game... Its artificial grind. You get scaled down when you're too high and when you're too low you just can't do anything. Pinnacle grind is a joke.

The real question is why are you if you know there’s little to no point?

I'm starting to think that Destiny 2 is actually a massive bitcoin miner software and we grind bitcoins for Mr. Smith by playing 24/7 chasing god rolls and max LL...

They’re too busy worrying about power creep and sunsetting to worry about how pointless the power grind is, kinda ironic when you think about it. Why sunset know power doesn’t even matter?
