If given Rampage or Multi/ Kill Clip, it'd basically be an exotic version of Breakneck, and seeing how that's being sunsetted, I see no reason why we shouldn't get something close to it. Alternate firing modes (single, burst, auto) like how Hardlight changes elements, select archetype (340, 600, 720) by double tapping reload, and with the damage perks, it'd basically be the perfect replacement for Breakneck.
Edit: To the people saying "no" for reasons like "the weapon sucked", you do realize it's gimmick was the customization, right? It wasn't meant for crowd control like Zhalo and Necrochasm now was it meant for damage like Suros and Mythoclast (counting because it's an AR/ fusion hybrid). The only thing really holding it back is what held back Hardlight and Borealis at the start of D2. Besides, this wouldn't be the first time they brought back a weapon that either sucked, became trash, or almost nobody used in D1.
Nobody used Hardlight.
Nobody used Sleeper.
After all the fusion rifle nerfs, nobody used Mythoclast.
After the nerfs in TTK, nobody used Thorn and almost nobody used TLW.
Nobody used Truth after the nerfs to rocket launchers/ tracking and the nerf to it's other perk.
Nobody used Thunderlord.
Nobody used Chaperone, especially after the nerfs to special ammo.
Nobody used Queenbreaker or LoW.
Almost no one used Red Death.
After the flinch nerf, almost no one used MIDA.
Nobody used Jade Rabbit.
Nobody used Pocket Infinity.
Nobody used Outbreak.
There were a lot of weapons that got little to no usage. You know what? They still brought them back or made replacements in the cases of Red Death and Merciless. You know something else? They're bringing back the Vault of Glass, meaning they're bringing back the Mythoclast. Chances are they'll be doing this for other D1 areas/ activities, so expect Necrochasm and probably Touch of Malice, two more weapons that recieved little to no usage near the game's end.

I thought Suros Regime with Spinning Up was the exotic Breakneck? Not that I'm arguing against the Khvostov, but it would have to be damage scaled accordingly to make a return worthwhile. I remember the D1 version not really being what it looked like on paper (auto, pulse, scout, all in one)
