Was Zavala the first awoken on earth ?
Think about it. The awoken weren't around during the beginning of things ! But zavala was? How was he on earth while the other awoken were in their own realm? Did he leave ? Did he somehow never make it to their realm? He was even on earth before mara let her people leave to return to earth ! #bungie please explain lol. Either zavala was one of the first awoken like mara or he somehow got changed during the collapse yet wasn't on the ship with the rest? It just doesn't make sense. Especially because he's been around since the warlord era.

Then some of the Awoken left the Reef and began dying on Earth. Zavala was one of these and was revived. But he had been dead so long that he and his copilot were both fully-decomposed skeletons, meaning a long time had passed so there’s a very high chance that other Awoken were already revived as Guardians before him. There’s no indicator of him being the first Awoken Guardian. And he was revived after the Awoken came into the system. He said himself he wasn’t alive for Six Fronts. His earliest known lore appearance was at the Great Ahamkara Hunt that took place awhile after Six Fronts.

The clash being so great a rip in space and time was made in which lived in for a long time, much longer then their creation to them returning to Sol. In this return a good amount couldn't wait and immediately set course to Earth, the rest started making a home in The Reef. Zavala most like died on arrival to Earth and subsequently revived later, some ghosts are still looking for their guardian so this isn't too much of a stretch. Now the timeline is a bit murky and who's to say guardians like Zavala have been around for quite some time. The Awoken could be in a similar way, they do age now but it also could be significant amount of time.

some went to earth aqnd became the "earthborn" awoken, the ones who stayed in the reef are known as the "reefborn" awoken.
