All my outstanding quests now require PVP to complete - why?
It's not fun constantly reloading. I don't have the time or the inclination to play crazy hours to become an elite PVP player.
Bungie add a tier system and introduce a decent balancing system. OR better still stop connecting quests with the Crucible and add a PvE alternative in order to complete.

Today I tried Elimination because I want a catalyst. It was three randoms against a stacked team, so 5 - 0. They were using pinnacle weapons to boot. I hate crucible and do not intend to do any more of this misery. Also not giving Bungle $. which is all that they care about. Now I’m off to play Fallout 4.

It is a bunch of crap, I have 2 quests that require me to play pvp. I am so tired of trying to play, getting 3 good shots on another player and he doesn’t die, or he glitches. The pvp system sucks, you want to make it fair on a quest? Then throttle all the pvp players to the same level. Do I suck that bad? Yeah, i hate pvp and get my butt kicked. I attempted it tonight for the Hawkmoon, which I thought was pretty tough, and I just want to quit the quest. 3 wasted pvp matches for 9%. What crap.

Edited by Freak: 8/2/2020 2:54:33 AMWhy do so many quests involve the same old boring PvE?
-
2 Replies
All my outstanding quests now require PVP to complete - why?
Because crucible is part of the game.

Very few quests require pvp. The ones that do usually have a reason too. I remember people complaining that last word and thorn had pvp steps. They’re pvp weapons.
-
Why do so many quests force me to play crappy pve ie do 3 public events , do 9 patrols . I'm guessing it's so there's enough players in all the different modes so nothing feels empty but it could be that bungie is too lazy to create fun engaging content and they have to send us on time wasting fetch quests to pad the play time.

Becausr this game is terrible and thats the only way they can keep numbers in pvp up.
-
3 RepliesBecause PvP is a part of the game. "But it's not the focus tho!" It doesnt have to be. It's a part of the game, so it stands to reason that the occasional questline will require it. It's the same with gambit. Hell, nowadays they usually give you options to avoid it. "But I dont have the time to become a god at pvp!" Why does everyone say this? The vast majority of PvP steps require so little actual skill that I could probably get them done within a half hour just by smashing my face into the controller. Surely you are not that bad. You are not "forced" to do anything. There are plenty of quest steps I didnt want to do but if I wanted the reward badly enough I would do them anyways. Nobody enjoys getting X kills with X weapon in strikes or doing X amount of public events.

1 ReplyI really Bungie has ignored the problem that PvP and PvE Destiny are two very different beasts. It's bothersome for PvP players to grind raids and dungeons to get good weapons for PvP just as it's bothersome for PvE players to deal with PvP quest steps. Not to mention all the balancing issues that result from weapons and classes being thrown into 2 very different combat scenarios. If a weapon is fine in PvE but strong in PvP, it gets nerfed. If something is fine in PvP but strong in PvE, it gets nerfed. If it's fine in both forms of play, it usually somehow gets nerfed anyway. The point being, Bungie has done everything in their power to make two different games into one and it shows.

Simple... I need some kills for a bounty. Now get back out there my bounty awaits
-
Cheap ez wins for pvp side.
-
2 RepliesThey do this because the crucible player numbers are so low - because it sucks - then their troll accounts post about how many players are in the crucible lol.
-
You don't get all the "stuff" unless you play all of the game. Seems fair to me...
-
Feel the same way about raiding dude. Just ain't my cup of tea.
-
1 ReplyAll PVP quests and PVP catalysts I get are instantly deleted, ignored and mocked. All of that dev time wasted...
-
There are lots of activities in the game some quests will make you do ones you don’t like. For an example I hate raids and nightfall’s if you don’t like the steps just don’t do the quest
-
1 ReplyIt’s simple. They look at their player #’s and decide which activities need more players. They then design new “content” steering us into that activity.
-
Why do I have to do Master Nightfalls to get shards? But you're right, they should design the game completely about what you want. Lol. Don't get me wrong, I'd be ok with PvP portions of quests going away so I don't have to have any of you matchmake onto my teams anymore.

Let's face it, aside from the Chaperone, the exotic quests that feature PVP feature a teeny tiny bit of PVP compared to the amount of PVE involved. And from a lore perspective, how do you remove PVP from quests like the Ace of Spades given the fact that Cayde 6 basically invented the Crucible?
-
I agree though doing pvp isnt so bad its the "being defeated will impede progress" that is really annoying. As someone who hates the crucible due to the lag and players managing to get kills through walls or ignore damage from you it makes those quests practically impossible. When D1 was 1st announced they advertised it as an open world shooter and highlighted the teamwork side showing public events as an example yet the game has more focus on pvp than pve with that being what causes changes to balance on classes and gear. ALL quests should have an option to do PVE or PVP steps to advance not tie you into an element of the game you dont enjoy.
-
What quests are you talking about?
-
Because they want people to play their crappy PVP so it doesn’t look so much of a failure.
-
Because sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone. You don’t get to always play easy stuff.
-
Because crucible is part of the game. Many players only play crucible so there are quests for those players. Pvp is a large part of the game to many. The quests are never that hard. A few kills isn’t that bad.
-
9 RepliesNah. The best rewards should push you far out of your comfort zone to get. Overcoming a challenge that you wouldn't normally do is what makes earning prized loot feel good. There are PvP players who loathe endgame PvE as well. It goes both ways.

1 Replythis is what irritates me, when people say, "oh i was forced to do x to get y." like bro, are they physically putting their hand on you and making you do it?
