Bungie coming back to Microsoft proves one thing.
Bungie can’t make it on their own, they NEED a Publisher to stay afloat. #ShouldHaveStayedWithActivision.

By opening the game up to game pass it will increase the player pool. I believe that is the reason why they did it. Increased eververse sales.

Where exactly was it announced that Microsoft was also taking over the role as the publisher? The only thing that is happening is that Destiny 2 is being added to the Game Pass library - nothing more and nothing less. However given that game is also coming to the PC Game Pass, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Steam being the platform for the PC version since the PC Game Pass uses the Xbox App (which is a Win 10 only app) as the launcher.

6 RepliesMicrosoft isn't acting as publisher. In fact, this is probably the first time they've ever had a business relationship with another company that was between equals. Bungie was being exploited under Activision. Going with MS in this way, drops the barriers-to-entry for new players....which is always an issue for long-running franchises like this....and does so in a way that only stands to make Bungie money. Because they still are selling Beyond Light....and Ultimate Pass only gets you access to the game as long as you maintain the subscription. In all likelihood, Bungie is getting a cut of that pool of money.....which only serves to allow new players to try the game, and potentially be turned into long term---paying customers. Especially since this moves encourages people to play the game on multiple platforms...and therefore multiple copies of the game per player.

Is Microsoft going to publish the game? I thought they were just adding D2 to Game Pass. And who wouldn't take that deal? It's guaranteed money.

4 RepliesThis is a complete guess, but I think it means that they don't have much content coming for this expansion. This is almost like making it free to play. I think there are so many wait and see people they might be trying to get some players back?

Edited by maleficent054: 7/30/2020 9:49:38 PMif that was the case then destiny one would have to be an Xbox and pc only title at least it would have been lesser stress on servers and Phill Spencer would have given Luke Smith to realize his vision for the game instead of the version we got upon launch in 2014 that was both shallow and none plus with content but still destiny 2 will not be available till next year for its Xbox game pass app due to steam.
