Here is a possible solution.
Rather than receiving a pinnacle drop, you receive a pinnacle engram, you visit master rahool who has eight boxes which represent the different items/slots you can choose from, say you need a heavy weapon or maybe just that one piece of armour and you can actually get what you want/need.
Not sure what the community would think of this, but to me this would actually be a meaningful decision for players to make.

2 weeks, 3 characters, 36 pinnacle drops...only needed one pinnacle kinetic.........didn't get one. Glu. Fix this. Its easy. Put in algorithm that prevents EXTREME unnatural unluck. It's not hard, it's not unfair. What is unfair is some get extremely unlucky and for no reason glu does nothing about it

5 RepliesLets call it what it is. Reward Throttling. And its every bit as insidious as when they throttled XP to prolong ranking up. I just finished most of the pinnacles/powerful rewards for this week on my Titan. Highest slots were kinetic and class item. Everything but one drop were either kinetic or class items. Did the three games of Gambit and got a 1024 class item. Did eight Gambit Bounties and got a 1024 class item. That isn't a powerful reward. Its just some shards because it was lower stats than what I had. And the kinetic drops limited my progress although they did boost my alts a bit. Why cant we infuse the high level armour from any character to any other character. Oh yeah, because that would help us. Here's the bit where the BDF go on about how if pinnacles ranked you up you would be at max too quickly. That's not my fault. Bungie designed a game where things like Grandmaster Nightfalls are the endgame and then limit my progress to get to the level to play them. Meanwhile power level, the reason this pinnacle/powerful reward system even exists, is utterly pointless most of the time yet its the games defining quality as you have to do it to be able to play certain events. And then I am being limited in my ability to progress. Infuriating. Meanwhile my 1036 Titan goes into the Crucible and gets one shotted by the dodging shotgun 765 Hunter. Power level seems to exist only so Bungie can enforce a system of grind that they then throttle to stop you progressing. And they want me to buy beyond Light when its clear this is the situation for the next year. Each season being a forced grind that they throttle. At least let me choose what I want or just make it drop into the lowest power slot for say the first three drops a week. Something that makes it worthwhile to play the same activities every week, with the same bounties required to progress, rather then sit there knowing the game is actively working against me. We know this reward throttling is a thing because of the radio silence on it. It isn't a bug. Its deliberate and its pissing people off Bungie. Do something, because right now my chances of pre-ordering Beyond Light are nil.

3 RepliesI have gotten 5 pinnacle kinetic in a row. 5 Why even play this S H I T design? F U C K Bungie since they think this makes people want to play
-
It's not rng when it's clearly developer manipulation.

1 ReplyI’ve been reading the various comments posted about the original post and need revise my suggestion. It is basically the same but you can only acquire one piece of equipment per week but in a slot of your choice and only on a plus one pinnacle. This would not make it too easy ,but something nefarious is going on with drops right now and I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks that.
-
The community would love it, but because it doesn't artificially extend a grind, Bungie would hate it.
-
3 RepliesThis doesn’t come from me. “Are you dumb? This idea is horrible, I hope it gets buried deep down somewhere and never gets brought up again. Controlling your loot? Hah, that would be too easy! Unlike others I enjoy the endless grind over quality memorable moments and enjoyable content!” Lol

Agreed ever since SK dropped the progress is terrible. Forsaken by its end had a somewhat smooth straightforward progression system. MW cores had bounties, you could play what you wanted(ish) to get powerful drops that bumped up your level at an eeh pace, God the menagerie and the chalice. Now it’s like a new team took ove and progression is at its all time low imho. Bad dupe rng, resources you need in order to infuse, glimmer costs for mods, etc. it’s all bad imo. Make me really not care about the next dlc....at all. This is my experience not speaking for anyone else.

1 Replythis is the opposite of what they do, you see NOT since 2014/2015 has RNG been actually "Random" , they've weighted it, manipulated it, changed it so it's anything BUT Random. I once got 8 Sweet-Business in a row ! Statistically it could happen, but very NOT likely. It's all about increasing the "Fake Grind" to inflate play times and wasn't needed. The way it was in the beginning people would play all day because it was FUN ! They seemed to forget that. The shear Joy you heard when someone got a random drop that was what they wanted eg: "I GOT FATEBRINGER ! ! OMFG ! " don't happen, all the random stuff has died & all the "Yellow Collectible Vault Items" are scripted missions everyone gets & these versions suck compared to even D1 Purple items and are like 10% of what they were before. TLDR; The R in RNG used to be for "Random" , now RNG 9 times out of 10 is for "Really Not Good" !

Dude. Cute, but Bungie not gonna help any of us reduce RNG. It’s their #1 weapon to keep players shackled to the game...
-
3 RepliesNot sure what your talking about. I for one enjoy getting a pinnacle class item 5 times in a row
-
26 RepliesRng doesn’t need to be touched. The game would become way to easy to reach max light if you could pick your gear. This is a loot based game and needs rng
-
If people think this suggestion is bad, fair enough, but what about cross class armour infusion or would this make the game too easy?
-
10 RepliesAll I’m getting from this is: I want bungie to hand me things so I don’t have to grind!
-
I hear you. Going on a month now needing a Cloak and been getting pretty much all weapons. You should never have to wait a month for ONE PIECE to put you to max gear score. Pinnacles need fixed ASAP
-
The RNG feels like it's loaded in some fashion. I consistently get repeat slot pinnacles or pinnacles for slots already at the max power level for my light level. This week seems to be class items. For the past 3 weeks I have received 3 usable pinnacles that upgraded power levels in a slot from 14 pinnacles I gained on my Titan.
-
This is why faction packages were so good. But if you hate RNG then you're in the wrong place

2 RepliesTook 13 umbral engrams to prismatic recaster, looking for a helmet. Changed them for armour focused engrams got 5 chest plates, 5 set of boots, 1 class, 1 set of gloves and a sword? Had 4 pinnacle and got 3 energy weapons and a pair of boots that I already had, makes you want to weep.

Edited by The-Iron-Duke: 7/30/2020 6:44:01 AMHonestly I'd not like that, all Bungie need to do is make it ACTUALLY random. The weighted RNG that Bungie employ literally makes me stop playing. Two weeks now I've needed boots for my titan. Stopped playing this week because I still didn't get them. If I'd have got them I'd have been excited and happy to grind out some seals or rolls or help clan mates. As is I'm too disheartened to bother playing.

It's stands for wRoNG.

Another week of mostly energy weapons good job bonghole it just helps remind me to never give you another penny of my money.

4 RepliesEdited by Ruuod: 7/29/2020 10:27:16 PMunder the current pinnacle economy you would be 1060 at the end of the first week of the season. that is just a horrible idea
-
I sort of agree in D1 when you got an end game engram you could pick what you wanted and/or needed.. I.e. weapon, armor or flair.. not like it is now.
-
2 RepliesRNG just dropped bombardier's and raiju today..
-
4 months to get 5 power. What will we ever do.
