Hi all,
First time poster here. Haven't had many issues with the game as it ran great before SoA update. Now I'm having the strangest of issues with FPS. First, my specs, which, according to my research seem to be part the issue due to running Ryzen:
Ryzen 7 1700 (non-X)
Asus Prime X470-PRO
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-2666
MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8GB
500GB HP EX900 M.2 NVMe
Game lives on a 2TB WD 2TB Black HDD
Samsung C27JG50 Curved 1440p 144Hz display
NO OVERCLOCK only DOCP tuning in BIOS.
So, first, in orbit I was getting 200FPS+ pre-SoA update. I was getting 70 to over 110/120 during certain game activities depending on clutter with my custom video settings. Then I updated and FPS dropped to around 100ish in orbit, MAYBE 120 at times and far below that in-game. Like 50ish to 80 max.
Then I updated the GPU drivers to the latest recently (451.67), which fixed it for one session. Then I logged in again and it went back to crap.
Then I got a tip from a player on my D2 Facebook forum about D2 not playing nicely with all Ryzen cores and the "fix" was to update the BIOS. Seemed to be an AMD thing. So I upgraded the BIOS and voila, I was getting 200+ again in orbit and back to normal FPS during the game.
Then I log in again, and BAM, back to the same issue.
Fair warning, whatever you ask me to try, I've most likely tried. NVIDIA settings reset and reconfig, game settings default and reconfig, deleting the config file in AppData. The works. I am not a noob PC enthusiast. I am a senior support technician in the media field and my side hustle is building computers. I know some shit about some shit, I assure you.
Anyway, it seems when I find a fix it only lasts for one session then it drops again on the next session.
I am running a custom video profile but no matter what preset I choose - from Low to Highest - it makes no difference. The FPS range remains stunted.
Does anyone have any insight to this? It's getting really frustrating because I KNOW this setup is much more capable but I find myself experiencing FPS drops constantly and it's affecting my gameplay. Very frustrating. Plus, the fact that it works after a "fix" and then reverts back to how it was is really confusing.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cheers :)

2 RepliesEdited by Clem Fandango: 7/29/2020 4:08:16 PMOk guys and girls, because of the great advice of @scope2790 below, I finally found a permanent fix. You can see his reply below for more reference but this is what I did: Updated my Asus PRIME X470-PRO to latest BIOS Removed latest NVIDIA drivers with DDU in Safe Mode Updated to latest AMD chipset drivers Rolled back to NVIDIA driver 446.14 (I tried 451.48 and it didn't work) I logged in, played for a bit and FPS was back to normal. Logged out and it is still back to normal. For reference I was getting 100 to 120FPS in orbit and it only went downhill from there with bad lagging in high clutter situations. Now I'm getting over 200FPS+ in orbit and 100+ in gameplay on custom settings (mostly high). See pic link below. Thanks again for the great help here! I really appreciate it! Cheers :) https://imgur.com/a/aq6RtvT

3 RepliesEdited by Scope: 7/28/2020 10:49:47 PMI know the issue you will need to DDU your drivers down to to 451.48 or 446.14 try 451.48 first. Pretty much NVidia screwed up that driver Ddu link http://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/display_driver_uninstaller.html How to do it YouTube video link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bP-2B14Nckw Thanks for reading.

1 ReplyAlso, if you can stress test your GPU with the Unigine tests and also keep track of your temps/voltages

4 RepliesOkay, that behaviour is frankly... weird. When you're playing, can you please keep an eye on your GPU temp and voltages and notice if they fluctuate a lot?
