Evidence of a Darkness race?

I've said in the past that there is no Darkness race because the Pyramids themselves are sentient, but there are a few things we cant ignore about the Collapse, the Pyramids current behavior, and what the Exo Stranger is STILL emphasizing on. The Exo Stranger The Exo Stranger has finally surfaced and tells of a future where the Darkness won. She once more emphasizes that she's seen terrible things born out of the dark. This line can't be a mistake. The Pyramids I think there is a possibility that they too were weakened during the collapse which is why it is taking them longer to get the ball rolling. They are searching for their champions and sending out Pyramid Scales to terraform different worlds. I believe they are setting up the right conditions so something dark can be born, like the Stranger said. Before The Collapse The research team that went to the moon and discovered the Anomaly began having nightmares, insomnia, hallucinations and began having their entire world view warped and twisted to believe that competition and violence was beautiful and Majestic. After these hallucinations, that's when everything went to shit. Natural and supernatural disasters swept across the system and people began screaming and shouting "there are things out here!" "They're killing us!" Other records described those things as screeching and smelling of wet earth. This detail is important because there is an Armory forge record that also described a creature like this. I believe those creatures were changed humans. Twisted by dark ideologies and influence. There were researchers who actually embraced them. I think the wet earth smell was alluding to them once being human. So the Pyramids giving us power? Talking to us? They are looking for humans or creatures who are compatible to become majestic as they put it. It's important to remember that the moment those researchers went crazy, that's when everything went sour. I believe this is the moment that will happen again once the Darkness is in so many people, many will change and they will be the infamous beasts that devastated us so long ago. The Darkness is trying to unveil who it's real champions are. In conclusion All this friendly talk? This sharing of an ancient power? The Pyramids are essentially injecting Guinea pigs and waiting for the results. If this is true and humans were changed during the collapse, then Guardians would maybe be harder to change. But imagine how powerful the being resulting would be. I think the Darkness race will come about from anything that fully embraces it without restraint and becomes something more than they are. Something completely unrecognizable, and this is the dark future the Exo Stranger left. Of course I could be wrong and Destiny does seem to be going for the idea that there is no true Darkness race, but these things cant be ignored. Theres also that far off world the Drifter found that was mostly empty except for a bunch of dark beasts that suppressed light and seemd to enjoy watching them kill each other. What do you guys make of all this?

  • The Dark future the Exo Stranger comes from is likely one wherein the City had no experiencing harnessing the Dark (She has no experience with the Hive) and as a result never interested the Darkness and so the City was instead annihilated

That actually makes a lot of sense. The traveler can change humans into guardians and the pyramids can change humans into the darkness creatures. Also the veiled statue in the moon pyramid and black garden are ancient yet appear human. Maybe the entire race onboard the ships are extremely ancient humans...

    • I'm seeing an underlying trend that makes me think that The Nine are actually the Darkness trying to Manifest in our reality. The effects during the Golden Age could be earlier attempts to manipulate life in our reality. The creature Drifter encountered could be an attempt to 'create' something in our reality. The Hive (or really, Oryx) communed with what we know as 'The Nine' and gained the ability to 'Take' making 'The Taken' a corruption of The Hive by the Darkness. When The Darkness attempted a corruption of Humans, The Awoken were the result. And when a wish was twisted and granted, a Darkness corruption turned a dead fallen into the first Scorn. The only 'complete' creation that was some level of success would be Radiolaria, which started as a basic attempt at creating life, that evolved on it's own, with a physical aversion to anything that came in contact with 'the light'. I think the Pyramid Ships are another race touched by the Traveler from LONG ago - before the Hive's history. And they will be giving us our new elemental powers and classes in Beyond Light. To clarify, I think the only reason Eris, and most of the 'lore' catagorize the Hive as agenst of the Darkness is only because they are against The Traveler for trying to interfere with their races destiny, and since they are 'enemies of the light' then they MUST be from 'The Darkness'. And the deceptive abilities of Savathun may have played a part in making that more feasible.

      • It seems Calus has fallen under the effects you mention, competition part.

      • You suggesting the pyramids just have all these fancy corridors just for visitors to see? Let alone an interior?

        • The phrase “born of” or “born out of” doesn’t have to mean a literal race of Darkness beings The Hive are born of the Darkness, the Dark power is what transformed the Krill to Hive. The idea of the Anomaly mutating people is a first. Corruption and driving people insane and into conflict is one things, turning people into creatures is a whole new ball game. I would think the people would need a link to Dark power for that to happen, much like the Hive needed Worms to change, the Anomaly doesn’t seem to fit that bill. I agree with the general idea that the Darkness did some kind mind infection on the people.
