Regardless of what weapon I use it always comes down to the same, tiresome mechanic: sniper rifles automatically locking onto a players head.
Your shoot your opponent and if they aren’t aiming at your face then CLICK. Right to the dome.
Bungie has never once said that they did this on purpose nor do they have any plans to fix this issue. You can say what you want about shotguns and heck even fusion rifles but they at least have counters.
You can’t counter this.

1 ReplySnipers are broke. They’ve moved into a close range weapon spot. You can’t play Trials or Elimination without spamming shoty or snipes. Just facts. Boring.
-
1 ReplyImagine if they one shot body shot in crucible Nightmarish.

2 RepliesEdited by Sonnabirk: 7/29/2020 7:25:29 AMSnipers should not one shot to the head imo, it should be 2 hits and also a body shot with sniper is like 10% health left on opponent, I tried it yesterday and with this you can just keep sniping the body and a teammate will easy take the opponent out. Something is real off this season in crucible, sometimes I feel like I do no damage at all and other matches I am the king of kills with the same weapon. For example a few matches yesterday with cold denial it was like i was doing no damage at all and then in the other match i was clearing out. Damage seems inconsistent for some reason, almost feels like in mobas where you get ahead in gold and do more damage. Was there some kind of settings changed besides cbmm matchmaking this season?

17 RepliesEasy solution.... stop challenging snipers in sniper lanes. Lol.

2 RepliesAm I the only one who just thinks flinch is a bad mechanic in general? If you land the first shot of a firefight you should be able to win that firefight without a crutch and if you don't then you didn't have any right to win it in the first place either cause of a skill gap between you and your opponent or because you chose the wrong engagement for your weapon or vice versa. Get rid of it.
-
Keep saying, give us a game mode where everyone has the same weapons.... you don't know what you have till you land but everyone has the same load out, you could have different versions.... primary only games, heavy only games....

It's the lag on the p2p servers some times works some times doesn't

13 RepliesSnipers just shouldn't be in the game, they completely change the dynamics of the game for the worst.

3 RepliesEdited by Ferus Lux: 7/28/2020 7:28:40 AMIt's so BS when I'm controlling a lane with a Scout Rifle, a Sniper peeks around a corner, I put two shots into his head, he continues walking and just domes me. This is terrible PvP design. It's gotten to the point anyone with half a brain can walk out into Pulse Rifles or Auto Rifle fire and just delete them ignoring the fact that they are being shot. Snipers need to be forced out of aim when taking damage. Whether instantly or after a damage threshold gauge or something. Sniping is oppressive and people will defend it despite all these scenarios where they extend into territory they shouldn't be in 😡

Edited by Outphase98: 7/28/2020 4:40:49 AMFlinch, in it's current form is stupid. It can be horrible for people trying to snipe and horrible for those who are battling them when the flinch causes the shooters reticle to move onto the player's head from the body. No joke, this is how flinch in Destiny 2 actually works. It's ridiculous. Flinch reduction mods don't actually make flinch any better, they just decrease the amount of time it takes for you to be able to aim normally again. So, from where I'm sitting, no one 𝓯𝓾𝓬𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 likes flinch. Flinch reduction isn't even a good bandaid for SNIPERS. What we should have is de-scoping. If you get hit while scoped with a sniper rifle, you drop out of scoped mode. That way, you can't just power through flinch and hope to get lucky. You actually have to evade shots and find a better position to snipe from. If you get dinged by a rifle and killed, you'll know it wasn't because the flinch gods favored your opponent, you'll know that you simply got outplayed.

3 RepliesI'm fine if they nerf snipers as long as they bring back combined arms as a permanant mode, with more then just 3 maps. Right now if they nerf snipers it will completely destroy them. This is due to the fact that most of the maps are intended for 4v4 and cater to more shotgun focused playstyles. The only reason people use snipers is because they're really good. If they nerf snipers they need to make a mode that will allow people to still use them effectively instead of being at a disadvantage in every mode they play on. I agree snipers are op but If they are nerfed to only be effective at their intended range then they will never be effective as most maps cant support their effective range.

See this is where snipers are more broken than arbalest. With a sniper it’s a simple trigger pull on their head, whereas for arbalest you have to charge up your shot, and there’s more god damn flinch. Flinch isn’t a bad thing but it sure is broken.

6 RepliesThis must only be a problem on PC because on Console snipers seem to be in a pretty good place. I’ve actually been maining Mida lately and that means challenging snipers at their optimal range and honestly I rarely get “sniped through flinch”. The only times this happens is if I peak predictably and I dont have time to get a second shot off before the sniper shoots or I simply miss a few shots and allow the sniper to line up a shot. Almost never do I get headshotted through flinch when I am actually laying into a sniper. I attribute all the complaints in this thread either to PC being different or people being dumb with positioning and bad with their primaries.

2 RepliesSnipers getting hammered in PvP is the "nerf this" hill I'm dying on. On top of broken flinch, they're too forgiving and too good up close. Flinch rework, plus removing bullet magnetism on headshots against Guardians (keep the stickiness on controller), plus reducing Bodyshot damage against Guardians on middle and high impacts, plus making the minimum possible zoom 40 outside of low impact models. Oh, and reverting the PvE damage nerf because that wasn't really necessary.

yes you can step one- learn to play properly step two- learn new mantra no trophies for being stunning and brave step three- realize this from someone who hasnt played for 6 months and the same complaints are comming out of these forums

1 ReplyPlayers are never happy in this game, and they never will be. First it's...."There's too much flinch. I can't aim. Snipers are worthless...." A few months later....."There's no flinch. Snipers are too strong. Nerf them...AAahhhhh....". Guess what happens a few months later? LMAO!!!! The PvP crowd in Destiny is always great for laughs. Keep being YOU, guys. It's always entertaining.

3 RepliesEdited by RaG nuh RocK: 7/26/2020 5:36:48 PMThey keep giving everyone free enhanced unflinching armor mods from the artifacts.l that cost 1 to equip. Sniper rifles are out of control in trials, it's just a very unbalanced game. Doesn't help that console players have to deal with 50% increased weapon recoil that destiny 1 and PC don't have. That extra recoil means a ton of guns are unusable. It is not a coincidence that every single meta pvp gun on console has low recoil. And none of the high recoil or even moderate recoil guns get used if at all

22 RepliesWhen they nerf shotguns they can fix sniper flinch. Not saying it’s not broken, just saying that getting sniped by felwinters from primary range feels no less broken.
-
Agreed.

Flinch hits me hard ngl

12 RepliesSnipers should descope when hit. End of story. This would prevent players from engaging up close to mid range with snipers and use them at long distance where they belong. Getting sick of camping snipers around every corner and then you proceed to shoot them in the face only for them to calmly stand there and pull off a perfect headshot. You might think they are just skilled and deserve the kill but when I look at stats most of the time it's negative KD guys doing this.
-
Even worse with the aimbots & auto shot/jump/squat aim/RoF mods/hacks being used even more on pc & through modded controllers on consoles
-
They do flinch. The issue is that the flinch direction moves the reticle on to your head
-
1 ReplyYou can, don't fight them in range.
-
That's why im only using ballistic slam these days and arc damage, I get up in the snipers face.

For a console perspective, less aim assist, in D1 the ambush scope aka the revoker scope but it was at 40 zoom gave -25 aim assist, I think it would be a good model, the shorter the zoom the more negative aim assist it applies. Flinch, Sniping is my go to special but when I'm using a primary doing damage the flinch shouldn't knock back his recticle onto my head. Revoker crutch needs to be addressed atleast players using other snipers will get punished if they miss. Changes need to be made, separate the good snipers from the bad, less aim assist, fair flinch, 40 zoom is fine. GIVE ME AMBUSH SCOPE ON EVERY SNIPER!
