Mountaintop is the best special weapon in the game. Point, shoot, finish off with a primary in crucible. It has a low skill ceiling, the capacity to one hit kill an opponent, and travels extremely fast in a horizontal path. It has been one of the most used weapons since it’s introduction, both in crucible and in pve, and about a season ago Bungie made it a handout and nerfed the quest. It is being sunset next season, but further action needs to be taken to ensure this weapon doesn’t leak into non-level-advantage playlists like survival and quickplay. It is [i]the[/i] pinnacle DPS special in every boss encounter in the game. In crucible, it is too potent and severely sways the flow of a match. The ease of use and pinpoint accuracy from the air makes it an extremely low risk high reward weapon requiring only a fraction of a second to fire after aiming. It almost always deals 50-200 damage. Players who are inferior in skill can easily leverage this weapon to win matches, and it forces the meta and playstyle of many guardians into an environment where you MUST use [i]the mountaintop[/i], or another overused, highly-forgiving weapon (see Arbalest, Revoker, Bastion, Felwinter’s Lie, Mindbender’s Ambition) to counter it. Crucible matches that feature exclusively these weapons, which are often supplemented by the obtusely powerful 600 rpm auto rifles, are extremely boring and make playing any form of competitive match in Destiny 2 frustrating. Destiny is a shooter looter. I own 300 weapons and I intend to use each of them. I do not want to be pigeon holed into using one of 5 or 10 weapons that hold the dominant position in crucible. Chief among these is the mountaintop, and I truly think it needs to be removed. I have every pinnacle weapon in the game. I understand they are meant to be powerful, but this one is polarizing the meta and making it unbearable. Please don’t sunset militias birthright.
