I just got my Ruinous Effigy and I thought that I might now be able to destroy all the Savathun’s Eyes, finish the catalyst and take a big step towards getting this season's title. Turns out this is yet another dead-end for a solo player with less than elite skills.
The reason is 5 of the 50 Savathun’s Eyes are in the Prophecy dungeon and the other 5 are in the Whisper mission, neither of which I have ever finished solo. Believe, me, I've tried. I am in a clan, so doing it with others would be an option except that almost nobody in my clan plays Destiny 2 anymore, and the few that do have wildly different schedules. So that means searching for a whole new bunch of online companions just to get 10 Eyes. Really. For a quest that was til now 99% PvE or easy PvP (Gambit)? B.S.
So that leaves me with the option to get 5000 kills to unlock the catalyst if I don't destroy the 50 Eyes, and of course I miss getting one of the achievements for the season title. So my Ruinous Effigy quest goes into my pile of abandoned or half-done Legendary quests because there is no alternative way for solo players to finish them.
That's all I'd like from the developers - an alternative to finishing these quests without the absolute option of doing it with a group. I wouldn't mind it if this involved many more grindy steps or such.
I know that the game is a multiplayer game, but it seems like too many Legendary Quests run almost entirely through PvE steps only to finish with a touch of PvP that comes as a sting in the end. Some Legendaries are known from the start to be achievable only through raids, trials or other content that needs a group, and I'm ok with that.
But I am not ok with how many quests (like the Ruinous Effigy one, among others) that are featured as part of the season but will be very difficult or impossible to finish solo.
Anyways, I just had to get that off my chest. Cheers all

Here we go, another “wahhhhh I can’t do something in a team game because I’m a solo player wahhhhhhh” post.

You know what they say: When you're having trouble, just complain publicly and someone will offer to help. That's me. I'm offering to help. And so are like a dozen others probably. I could go for a Prophecy run.

1 ReplyWhisper’s eyes are easy. The prophecy ones are annoying but they aren’t as hard and you think. Try and get another person and you should be fine
-
The whisper ones you can get solo easily, the prophecy ones are annoying for a solo player but you don’t need all 50 for the catalyst
-
You don't need to finish Whisper, just find the eyes. I did it solo and it was easy. I finished the catalyst before I got the 30th eye, just using the gun while going to get the eyes. Talk to your clan more perhaps? Get a Whatsapp chat going or something so you can work out playing schedules. I know for my friends its easier if we have a few days to prepare (i.e. Appease various family members, negotiate gaming time etc.) Good luck.

If you’re on Xbox then hit me up, I’ll happily help :)

To be honest, the only eyeball in the Prophecy Dungeon that's a pain to get is the last one because you have to go against your instincts and not nuke the boss in one phase so he rotates the pillar room.
-
Don't need all 50 eyes for catalyst. I got 30 eyes and the catalyst was complete so.
-
2 RepliesFirst. Dont need the eyes for the catalyst. Second. Dont need teammates to get whisper mission eyes. Third. If you get 45 eyes on your own, you only need 500 kills to unlock the catalyst anyway, not 5000. And let's be honest, by the time you've gone round getting 45 eyes you'll have likely killed 250 enemies with the weapon anyway. For perspective, I have 40 eyes as I'm waiting to get the whisper and prophecy ones with my girlfriend, but I already have the catalyst despite the only time I've ever used the gun is yesterday for the hour we were getting the 40 from the planets. Fourth. The seal requires 28 triumphs to earn, but there are a potential of 30 triumphs to unlock, so you don't even need all 50 to get the seal. Soooo truthfully, I dont even know what you're whining about.

I have the catalyst, probably won't get the triumph. Google Savathuns Eyes. Polygon has a pretty good tutorial, the catalyst unlocks faster with eyes vs kills. Or do a mix of both?

Edited by Bumblebee793: 7/25/2020 12:46:27 AMActually each eye gives 2% towards cat completion so you would only need 1000* kills to finish it. Getting 40 eyes will give 80% completion so its not bad. The title is different but honestly you usually cant expect to get all of them solo, it is a multiplayer game.

1 ReplyYou don’t need all 50 to unlock the catalyst, 50 is for the triumph.
-
8 RepliesWhisper mission's eyes are all before you meet any enemy.
-
You just being really bad or just lazy, both missions super easy to match at lfg app, and durable to solo with power 1060+ , belive in yourself and stop winging.

The 5 in the whisper mission are obtained before you meet any enemies. So what’s your excuse there now?
