Survival: Freelance Or Comp & the path to Glory

Does anyone else feel like they are always the best guardian on the team when playing freelance? The solo path to 5500 is a brutal road. I as a guardian am 2/3 seasons complete. I Need to reach Legend this season to have the Unbroken title.... The utter frustration in having the highest kill counts & efficiency on the team every comp game seems a tad predictable now. Why is it that when playing freelance:survival you usually have 2 poor players on your team Vs. a team of average players.? Do any guardians feel this way? Thanks

  • You have a 1.2 kd, same as me. You can't be the best every game. I've been carried to a win a few times, unless you are playing rumble, PvP is a team game. It doesn't matter how well you do, it's about how the team does. In the end it's all about the win.

    • I obtained my Solo legend 3 times now and it’s been fine for me personally. I get it in the first 2 days of a season typically. It takes me about 12 ish hours to do. The big issue is lobby balancing becaus if you are a good player you are forced to carry if you want to win. It’s the reason .7kds can get legend. I know 2 people who are bots but they have gotten carried because lobby balancing

    • Believe it or not, solo comp used to be more tolerable before they implemented freelance sbmm because you would generally get competent people on your team. Now, it's a crapshoot.

So, you end up with a team with a top 40% player and two bottom 30% players, while the other team has three bottom 40% players. Averaged out, it's even, but the top 40% player can pretty much kill any of the other team's bottom 40% players at will, while his teammates are fairly even with them. If the disparity between "best" and "worst" in the lobby gets even larger, then the effect is even more noticeable. I don't know if this happens because there are so few players in Freelance, or if Bungie is just that bad at balance. You are good enough (top 19% in comp) that even having someone top 30% on your team could be fairly obvious, and a top 40% would look like a newbie. It also means that the pool of players who are obviously better than you are is fairly small (top 10% would be my guess).
