Hello, I recently got a new gaming laptop, the ASUS TUF gaming A15.
I had issues connecting my Nintendo Switch Controller to the game. Interestingly enough, I have a desktop PC that works perfectly with the Switch Pro Controller and Destiny 2 so it surprised me to see it's not working on my laptop. I can get past the title screen by pressing "B" but then very little to no response from the controller works after that. Can't move joysticks or press buttons. I get the occasional "Exit to Desktop?"
After about an hour of troubleshooting or so.... I found out that my desktop is set to 60 Hz and my laptop is set to 144 Hz. So I turned Vsync off on the laptop and set the framerate in-game to 120 fps, unplugged the controller and plugged it back in and it worked! So my theory is higher framerates cause the Switch controller to become less responsive to not responsive at all. Going to 126 frames per second or higher renders the controller unusable until you turn the fps back to 120 fps or lower. You may need to reset the controller again. Bluetooth or USB has the same issue
I tried to replicate the issue on my desktop and found that the high frame rate also causes the Switch Controller to not work. I can only use the Switch controller with USB.
Anyone know of a fix? Is this an in-game issue? Were any of you able to use a switch controller at 126 frames or higher?
I can use a PS4 controller with USB on my desktop and play at high framerates just fine.
I can play other games at high frame rates with Switch Controller just fine.
Looks like it is fixed! I can now play the game at any framerate I want with a Nintendo Switch Controller!!
Version bug was found: 2.9.1.1

As I expected, the update, 2.9.1.2 did not resolve the issue.
-
Hmmmm. Looks like it won't be fixed this update :(

2 RepliesHey there! Steam supports Switch Pro controller. However, Destiny 2 does not support Steam input. Destiny 2 has it’s own controller support for PlayStation and Xbox controllers.
-
Dang it! I don't know how to fix this!!

I updated all my controllers. I thought the problem was resolved and I could play at 144Hz. But no, as soon as the FPS went above 125 or so, RIP controller.

Hang on.... There's a controller update I have to download through the actual console. Lemme see if that works.

Edited by mmarkster: 7/25/2020 4:03:06 PMAfter testing this with Bluetooth the threshold for inoperability is much lower between 60fps and 70fps.

Even launching the game at 120fps is a nuisance cause it blips past that when launching causing my switch controller to not work. After using the mouse and keyboard to select character and reset my controller I got it to work.

1 ReplyPretty sure the switch controller isn't fully supported
