One of the best looking warlock exotics in the Game. It’s exotic perk however is kinda lack luster. It only activates when you die and all it does is put a healing rift on your corpse. I think the exotic perk just needs to be replaced entirely, there isn’t really a decent use for it.
Maybe instead of putting a rift on your corpse, it could grant super energy while you stand in rifts, or give you an extra rift charge, maybe even move away from rifts all together and do something unique. Could give warlocks a head butt that can be used like a shoulder charge since hunters and titans get one. Just something useful, the design is absolutely amazing I’d love to start using it more regularly instead of my ophidian aspects

1 Replyjust give me my ram

1 ReplyWarlocks Sure do have a lot of useless Exotics

1 ReplyEdited by Salty Maud: 7/17/2020 6:30:18 AMIt's not the most exiting exotic, but it's not exactly useless either. I ran the stag as my pvp exotic for quite a while and having your healing rift available more often when you're tagged, allowing you to quickly heal up and re-engage with full health is nice. The "healing rift on your corpse" part is also situationally useful in a team setting. Not necessarily well suited for a rushdown playstyle, but it has its uses. Also there is cheese. More frequent empowering rifts for cheeky arbalest bodyshot one hit kills.

2 RepliesIt’s a risk reward type exotic. It does charge your rift so you can bait and switch while critically wounded, then pop a rift heal go out to the open get shot rinse repeat.

Edited by TheWagn: 7/17/2020 6:28:22 PMRead through the comments here. Ummm do any of y'all use the stag? The rift upon death is not the only effect. The other perk it gives is a large amount of rift energy when you go to red. Very helpful when using swords on big boss targets. You can guard stomps with sword guard, go to red, then get a rift to drop so you can continue dps with a healing buff. It was used to solo 1 phase the kell echo in prophecy. Certainly a niche pick, but it's clear none of y'all actually use it or read what it does lol.

KINDA lack luster? So sir.. it's absolute shit.

Edited by DuBChiri2: 7/16/2020 5:29:55 AMIt's unlikely that it will get a rework to that level so you will probably have to hope that they just give it more substantial utility. Like the rifts being larger or being a bit more effective. Maybe even consume your rift energy in super for the effect of the rift you have equipped applied to the user or not requiring a super at all.

1 ReplyWhat if you used it with the orb from the ruinous effigy? Kill yourself with the Aoe shielding your teammates from swamping mobs and when you die from the AoE, you drop a rift.

4 RepliesWait...my hunter has a shoulder charge?
Maybe instead of putting a rift on your corpse, it could grant super energy while you stand in rifts
This would totally destroy Comp/Trials. But I agree that it's a lackluster exotic. If an ability requires the player to die, it better do something incredible to be worth the tradeoff. A plain old rift doesn't cut it.
-
3 RepliesI think it does what it is supposed to do just right. It's an A tier exotic, not S, but not all exotics are S tier
-
I can tell you right now, if it gave super energy for standing in a rift then here comes the return of triple Stormcaller toxic Trials team from D1. (Great ideas get shutdown because of Trials.)

2 RepliesThere are so many exotics that just do nothing for the game. Oathkeepers is a Hunter one I don't even know why exists. Then there are the Aeon exotics. Just delete them. Bungie isn't listening. It's one and done. If an exotic sucks, rarely do they make it better. But if it is too good, they always nerf it. They don't realize they can literally make a whole new game in terms of how it feels and plays if they readjust and fix worthless exotics more. Instead they rehash legendary weapons.

Agree, it's a beautiful helmet, and I've got an amazing roll but it's useless, so it just sits in my vault.

I think just being damaged should grant rift energy. If your critically wounded you create an orb. Additionally when u are rezed you and your reviver get super energy? I kinda think this would reward risky gameplay as ppl might want to get hurt for the orbs and i they die, hey, still get some super of of it. Could be a good one for crappy players who dont know how else to help. Also lets add a "Bambi" ornament lol

Just use your Nothing Manacles.. oh wait NM

This goes the same for a lot of Warlock exotics: they look amazing and sound cool/decent on paper but are just terrible or not that great during gameplay. The exotic I wish they would rework the most is the one that releases an arc shockwave when casting rift, seems to me most of the “regain rift faster” exotics are really not worth the exotic slot and would serve better as a seasonal artifact perk. Also can we talk about how Stormdancer’s brace (chest piece) is just an inferior version of Crown of Tempests? Is that just me? I really feel like this exotic should’ve been given function to Nova Warp or Dawnblade.

I liked the ram helmet... Always cool. Stag cool too

Oooor it could combine empowering and healing rifts into mini wells of radiance on activation of the rift ability. I think that would be solid. The idea of having an exotic perk that only procs when you die seems pretty lacking to me, personally.
-
They should combine it with the ram from d1 where its exotic perk also grants an intrinsic life steal on all melee hits and a plus 20 resilience

Rifts should have a wider range and a damage buff on top of empowering plus invincibility at the same time and add 10 more seconds, then it would qualify as exotic
-
I once suggested that this exotic make it so our rift damage our enemy.
-
9 RepliesIt should allow for faster recharge rate of our Rifts plus allow us to take benefits with us from each Rift. So the overshield from Healing and weapon buff from Empowering. Call the perk Dangerous Prey.
-
Oh oh oh! I came up with a buff for this years ago! While critically wounded, you have the empowered buff, while not critically wounded, your rift charges faster, on death you drop a healing and empowering rift.
