SMG's seriously need a stability buff on console

Now that Recluse is getting sunset, it's time to look at giving smg's the buff they have always needed. I have an Ikelos smg with dynamic sway, tap the trigger, and 100 recoil direction (according to DIM), and the thing still kicks around like a rabid feral hog. If I try to use it beyond 10m I get completely sprayed down by an auto, and if I try to use it within 10m I get instantly shotgunned. I watch ppl use them on pc and they are laserbeams; why can't they be like that on console too? Or at least, why do they have to be so unwieldy on console that they are complete trash?

  • 600 RPM Auto Rifle = 26 Headshot Damage 600 RPM Smg = 23 Headshot Damage 0 Sense.

      • Yep. Day one raid contest mode should include dropping pc to what console has. Recoil, 30 frames, fov, etc. Fair is fair, right? On pc recluse used to be a 900 scout rifle.

        • Same applies to all guns (hc's, autos, pulses). Use any gun on D2 then use that same archetype on D1 and you'll notice a dramatic difference in kick. Guns just need a stability buff across the board.

        • I agree. But if you're looking for a good and stable SMG, get the Ikelos one with dynamic sway and put a counterbalance stock on it. It rolls with surrounded and demolishionist which are amazing perks

          • I've been messing around playing on PC and playing with weapons like SMGs are night and day. They feel like mid range primaries and super consistent.

          • After trying out a peacekeepers double smg build after I got the new seraph gun.... safe to say they need a buff on pc too.... antiope is destroyed by gnawing hunger and you need to get charged with light to compete.... the seraph one is better but yeah buff the damage so they can dominate close range

            Because if they, they’d be autorifle. And the only way to balance the reduced recoil would be to reduce effective range even more making them useless at anything other than melee range.

          • I don't think the PC platform port should be used as a benchmark for adjusting console platform related tweeks. They behave differently with different peripherals. Not saying smg's do or do not need adjustments to recoil. That, and the IKELOS smg is an aggressive-frame which means increased recoil severity.

          • SMG's are supposed to be used at relatively short distances, they're behaving correctly, imo. If anything, they are way out of balance in PC as they're not supposed to be like laser beams.

              • Ikelos smg with seraph rounds and a stability perk is pretty good in pvp. Tarrabah is pretty good in pvp. Death adder with the right rolls. I hear ya though, they're in a tough spot. It isn't so much they're bad, it's just autos are so good right now. I'm sure Bungie will pick a new weapon to buff so the meta will shift. My guess is 360 ARs or scouts.

              • Thia game is made for pc now. Moving destiny to PC has ruined everything for us on ps4 or xbox. They nerf weapons based on how they act on pc. Bungie is so out of touch it's crazy. If it wasn't for my clan I'd quit this game.

                  • Well, anything aside 600 rpm smgs, I'd try to keep engagements at close-medium range. At least that's what I feel a 750 and 900 rpm do best. I pair Ikelos with The Supremacy/Revoker/Silicon Neuroma or a Scout/Pulse.

                    • Zenith you make some valid points and I agree that ever verse should be removed from this game. But Whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let’s get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta’aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

                        • Recoil needs to be removed all together, its already easier to aim on PC and console it's a but ton harder, just remove it.

                          not only on console. SMGs are useless on pc too they do the same as autorifles but with the range of a side arm. better of using autorifles. SMGs need a buff overall. They have no place in the crucible right now.

                          • They are supposed to be close range weapons aren’t they? My Pillager seems fine with Tap the Trigger on it. I’m on PS4 and have no issues controlling SMGs. Honestly just use an AR if you want to fight at longer ranges. I’m still in favour of any stability/recoil buffs though 😉

                            What roll do u have? Edit: You would have the god roll if you had steady rounds instead of seraph rounds. That extra 15 stability is crucial, the 100 rd means almost nothing without it.
