I’ve heard that our Ghost synthesizes it using materials harvested from enemy gear. The high numbers of ammo we have always bothered me from a lore perspective and if this is canon that would be amazing...if not I’m making it headcanon anyways. Cheers!

We all have an ability the energy caused by the removal of the soul from the body into matter we can use to fire our weaponry.
From where does our ammo come?
You weren’t supposed to ask that👮🏻♂️

1 ReplyThe enemies smuggle ammo in their butts. It's common knowledge that when you die, you release your bowels. The ammo 'popping out of corpses' is the enemy releasing its bowels and the smuggled bullets falling out. You're picking up butt bullets. Fact.

5 Repliesits from magic boxes that appear due to fluctuations in the flabrom layer of existence, and the ghost then utilizes the light to cause a chain reaction in the atoms of the boxes, which become ammo and are transmatted into our inventory It's really simple and is explained in a lore book im not going to link cause (it doesnt exist) im too lazy

It comes from dead coprses

2 RepliesThe enemies we kill are secretly on our side, so they give us ammo and other nice things.

3 RepliesEdited by H1vac: 7/12/2020 9:19:44 AMPerhaps the ghosts convert the energy of an enemy or an enemy’s corpse into ammo. 1. The ghost has an easier time locking onto and converting the energy when it is nearby a corpse. (Ammo boxes appear near corpses. Yeah, they can be launched, but I’d say that’s because it game). 2. Guardians can also receive ammo from the ghosts periodically without being in close proximity to an enemy. Killing the enemy gets you the energy quick. Popping enemies in the head generates energy (Headshotting Hive releases fire. Fallen give souls. Cabal give flammable oil (EDZ adventure has us sabotage some of the oil reservoirs). Body-shotting enemies also gives energy, but less compared to headshotting (I think). Synths bypass the killing. 3. In a darkness zone, with ammo drop rate reducing debuffs, the ammo is generally harder to produce. We know that the darkness can have a weight (Hive darkness zones aren’t like the darkness zones of the other enemy factions. But if the darkness zones of the other enemy factions are fields maintained by the boss, then we could say that the enemies there are jamming a larger range of light frequencies than just jamming the light of the Traveler. The enemies we face have technologies that negate the effects of certain energies (match game) when said energy type weapons are aimed at the body a specific target. A large field could slow or block any light directed at the strike/raid/patrol/dungeon area). We know that certain frequencies of light are greatly affected by this weight, hence the longer revive times. Because light is affected we could assume that the entire spectrum of light is also affected to varying degrees(in a zone where regen is greatly impaired, a guardian’s super still recharges at the same rate it would outside of the zone). Since light is energy and energy is light, the energy would be siphoned at a slower rate. Harder to create matter, harder to create ammo. 4. The amount of ammo generated by the ghost may be determined by the complexity of the ammo type, intended weapon, and max clip carry capacity. Sword? Simple. Rocket launcher? Complex. Ghosts take energy from our enemies to make ammo. TL.DR: We know that the ghost can turn energy into matter. We know that energy can be gained passively or actively by the ghost. We know that enemies can block energy frequencies. We know that our enemies can impair our regen, revive, respawn and ammo generation capabilities in darkness zones. Since ghosts require energy to create matter, I conclude that ghosts are energy vampires that siphon the light of the Traveler in order to give us the means to defend the big ball of the Sky—I mean...ghosts siphon energy from living or newly un-alived things in order to make ammo for us guardians. Edit: The Light of the Traveler is not light (energy) though. Void Light and void energy are two different things. But void Light interacts with void shields in a similar manner that void energy does. The Light would still have to pass through the energy barrier. Energy barriers can block light to an extent. The Match Game mechanic can still be applied. Solar barrier/field projected around the enemy occupied area? Void and Arc Light’s going to have a hard time getting through.

Extra dimensional backpack. Simple.

1 ReplyThe little ammo boxes that enemies drop are the raw material that our Ghost synthesizes ammo with. Heavy ammo is large because it takes more material to synthesize.

1 ReplyEdited by Grays_KS27: 7/11/2020 5:06:29 PMAmmo synthesis is from the matter encryption tech created in the Golden Age, the same technology used for Engrams, Glimmer, Vault/Inventory, transmat, SIVA, and the encoding of the human consciousness for Exos. It’s all converted to data and we can carry tons of it thanks to the Inventory storage and ammo synths work almost universally for any weapons due to their apparent similarities with Glimmer. We can just have bullets or a magazine materialize in our hands. Why do we get so many from killing our enemies? Because it’s a video game, sadly, is our only answer.

The ghost can give us some no matter what. Once you run out of ammo, the ghost will regenerate it, but it takes him time.

1 ReplyHi, Ghost Rider! I have an idea... kinda. This piece of Lore comes from the Grimore of D1 "Legends: Saint-14" (https://www.destinypedia.com/Grimoire:Allies/Legends_%26_Mysteries#Legend:_Saint-14) The final part says:
"No, not this time. I have word that Osiris was seen on Mercury. The Caloris Basin. He’s turned his mind back to the Vex.” “Mercury? Too many channels to know. You activate one, you start to feed its veins. He threatens our peace.” “Your duty, my son. You must never forget.” “I cannot.” The Ghost killed the feed and waited for its Guardian’s words. “Ghost, prepare my Vex arsenal and plot a course for Mercury. That old man is about to wake up hell.”"
Also, from the Lore of "A Man With No Name", Loose Ends, pt. III (https://www.light.gg/db/legend/lore/3034639042/loose-ends-pt-iii/)
Felwinter stood, and politely motioned for Wu Ming to take his leave. Wu sighed, shrugged, and left the chamber. He had a long climb ahead of him. The Exo parted his coat and drew a long, bronze shotgun from his side. "What do you think?" his Ghost asked. "Call Lord Dryden. Prepare my Iron Banner arsenal."
From this and also other dialogeus we hear throught the game it seems that the Ghost is in charge when it's about our personal Arsenal. Probabily our ammos come from him throught Transmat. About the fact that we always have so mny in the game, I think it is a simple case of gameplay mechanic that should not be confused with lore facts. If I'll find something else, I'll let you know =)

1 ReplyI can’t confirm but I’d like to guess it’s some way of ghost taking the energy from then fallen enemies converting it to ammo?

From where, thou ammo thus shall therefore come.

3 RepliesI’ve heard our ammo is reduced to data, which is stored in our armor.

1 Reply...you know the saying to "sh$t a brick".......💁🏼 well, when you shoot the enemies, they sh$t a brick of ammo as they die...💀👀

1 ReplyI promise you Bungie has never thought of your question.

I’d assume that Ghost can convert ammo to fit your weapon, or, in the case of wavesplitter, the gun itself converts its own ammo

3 RepliesImagine that the ghost makes ammo and stores it on our ship, and transmats it in when we need it
