Can You Please Fix CBMM?

If you're not gonna switch back to SBMM, can you folks at Bungie please make it so that I'm not connecting with people with super sketchy hit regs and delayed deaths? It's supposed to be CONNECTION-based matchmaking, this normally implies the closest people to you.

    Idk, it feels like they adjusted the matchmaking while they patched the game on Tuesday, connection quality is noticeably worse than it was before. I’m matchmade with people from all over the world again really often.

If you want your pinnacle play elimination or comp they are SBMM. If enough of us quit playing, Bungie will take notice, and maybe make a change. What we need is a choice of either SBMM or CBMM. If you want SBMM back boycott crucible. Tell your friends to spead the word.

          • I've noticed more lag this season (since CBMM) compared to previous ones. Though I wouldn't say its been completely prevalent.

                There’s no problem with CBMM. It simply exposes the underlying issues- servers, team balancing, stacks vs solos, and more- because all these things can happen with players of vastly differing skill levels. Also, it’s worse this week because the pop fell below 400k for the first time this season due to the 2 new PvE quests being added. It’ll shoot back up next week.

                • I like cbmm. It allows me to try weapons that I normally can't use because of sbmm. I've recently picked up a sniper rifle. I used to snipe, but then I put on traction and I sucked ass at sniping. Now, I'm able to practice it and get better while having traction on in game modes like control, rumble, and lockdown.

                  • I prefer cbmm in theory. Make playing with my friends more fun for them and it SHOULD lead to games with a better connection. That's not what's happening though. I'd rather play sbmm where every game is a sweat fest than load into cbmm games and get crapped on via lag. I can make adjustments to players who are better than me. I can't make adjustments to teleporting players, 0 stickiness, lightning strafe and invincible opponents. It's happening almost every match now and since I can't play until later in the day it will continue to happen. Don't get me wrong connection wasn't great playing at this time of night with SBMM but it SHOULD have improved with CBMM and it hasn't. Let's just rename it MM.

                  • It's been terrible since the change. Seeing nonsense I'd not seen since D1. Waste of time some of the isht they decide to do. The platform doesn't support CBMM very well, or at all, it's not working properly, I don't have a trash connection so stop matching me into trash-connection lobbies.

                  • Well, as lower skilled players stop playing it the pool of players dries up and all thats left are scattered across the globe. For me the PvP experience has gotten worse every week. It's to the point now that I'll get the pinnacle and get out. It's sad really as PvP is fun when the competition is balanced.

                    • Is it based off of distance or ping? I only live 15 miles outside a major city, but the only isp we have is an adsl one which on some days, I could have a 3k+ ping to connect to my next door neighbor.

                    • CBMM only works if their are enough people playing so that you have people near you that have similar internet properties as your own. As soon as the population drops into the Toilet or you Play at non peak player times or you live outside of North America, well CBMM becomes a Fecal Storm of poor game play. Of course, had Bungle invested in Regional Dedicated Host Servers rather than their Halo 2008 Era Peer to Peer Networking, we wouldn't even need CBMM. And if they had Dedicated Servers, crap like DOS, Paid Carriers and other IP Shenanigans wouldn't even be thing.

                      • All I know is after CBMM there is longer wait time, more lag, more players shooting thru walls and vanishing players. Game has become so unplayable not touching the game mode and no more funding till they fix their lag. And I say their since its Bungie's decision to use peer-to-peer. If they are going to go with a CBMM mode, they need to host dedicated servers else they leave everyone at the mercy of the host's connection. In a CBMM mode it might mean everyone is pinned down to the limit of that hosts connection. Now that's not even to account for impact from host based advantages and how that might impact gameplay. Nope, no pre-orders and no expansion funding if one of the core game mode is unplayable. Had bought this game for a couple of others to try as well, no more of that either.

                          • I particularly enjoy getting stomped flat in Rumble, getting the message that they're breaking up that team to get a better match before putting me back into Rumble against the same players to get stomped flat again because you know, they have the best connection too me. Glad it's only four games for the pinnacle drop.
