Sunsetting is a terrible and here's why; the mountaintop. The grind for this weapon is RIDICULOUS, especially for PvE focussed players. Yesterday, me and a friend decided to post to fireteams and look for a 3rd player for Prophecy, after running the dungeon a couple times, he asked us if we could help him get fabled, me and my friend said sure. After reaching fabled, he informed us that he got The Mountaintop and Recluse, obviously we were happy for him as it's a grind for the guns if you're a PvE focussed player. He then told us that HE CRIED when he got the weapon as the grind drove him to a point of tears. This shouldn't be the case just to get a weapon, where it messes with your emotions, and now, he's got the rest of this season to play with the 2 weapons then its BYE BYE emotional woe, BYE BYE literal days sank into control and other PvP game modes. SURELY theres a better way? I can understand removing planets into the DCV as it comes down to a install size issue, but sunsetting shouldn't be a part of it. Of course this is my opinion, but i feel confident in saying that there's a general concensus amongst the community who feel like this is an unneccessary move, and a big risk for the future of destiny.
Thanks,
BMC

It’s not going away. You can still use it.

While I’m against sunsetting, I’m noticing a large amount of players who don’t know what it entails. You can’t use it in ENDGAME content, examples being: PvE: raids, dungeons, certain tiers of nightfalls, and ordeals PvP: trials, comp, and iron banner Gambit: unsure As for where you can use sunset weapons: PvE: open world, strikes, lost sectors, and previous year content (anything that’s left over after September launch) PvP: literally just quickplay
