Titan's have their Barricade that damages people as they go through it. And it's a quick through up. The Hunters have their dodge and with the right gear they can disorient you or heal themselves. Not to mention, instantly reload or turn invisible. The best thing we have is Arc Soul. But even then, setting up a rift takes so much time. The second the rift appears Warlocks should be able to move again. Anyone can just run up to a tagged warlock and just finish them off because they're stuck in a long animation. What's the point to a healing rift overshield if it can't protect you from a titan's shoulder charge or a shotgun? Enemies should be damaged walking into the rift like they would be if they ran through a barricade. Something to make them more viable in pvp and pve.
Edit: Bungie, this has been trending for two days straight. It's something the audience is talking about. A lot of the comments are asking for a buff to the Titan Barricade and Warlock Rift animation speeds.

I have said this for a long time, the long animation time and the fact that to use it you have to stay in a small area, most likely in cover, makes it high risk to use. So it should be high risk for enemies to rush into it. I think it should poison enemies, similar to thorn and leave a lingering tick damage even after they've left and should be part of the class like titans barricade damage not as part of an exotic armour piece. Also I feel Icarus dash should be in all warlock subclass' it would make jumping puzzles less of a chore when using a warlock, I know a lot of people would cry about that but hunters movement is really good, titans are really fast and can shoulder charge across areas without using melee energy, why can't warlocks dash in the air?

Too many people can only play hunter, bungie don’t care for warlocks

I don't think they are garbage in PVP, but you do have to have realistic expectations about how to use them. They are not a panic super. They are not a hunter dodge, but warlocks have that top tree Dawnblade kind of dodge thing that is great. Yes, you can get killed while deploying if you aren't in cover. Titans get killed while trying to barricade too if they do it while not in cover (trust me on that one, I've learned the hard way). That seasonal anti barrier auto rifle mod also takes some of the fun out of barriers. There are a lot of great ways to use healing rifts if you have a team that is paying attention. Need to cap that important zone in control? Need to control heavy before a spawn? Need to establish map control of a key area? Drop one somewhere that helps so people can heal, go out and shoot, then pop back in to recover quicker than the other team. This is what they are for in PVP. If you aren't playing with a team you can still use them behind cover to more easily control angles and win 1 V 2 by dipping in and out of a rift behind cover. I play all 3 classes and love rift in PVP. Plus with top tree Dawnblade you get the in air dodge, a ranged melee that is great, aerial combat options, a super that slays, etc.

I've said for ages that Warlock Healing Rifts (only the Healing) need to damage enemies. It's the Perfect excuse for an Exotic too... Could even call it "Shaman's Deceit" and its perk is literally 'Healing Rift heals user but deals damage to enemies over time'. Too many Titans hide behind walls teabagging knowing you'll die if you walk through it and add to that the Citans Ramparts make it a death trap. So, Rifts need to deal damage too.

34 RepliesBoth barricade and rift need a speed up -hunter main agrees

3 RepliesWarlocks in general are the weakest class in PvP by a country mile. Rifts are the least of their problems IMHO.

1 ReplyThe biggest complaint I ever see from rifts or barricades are people dying while deploying them...they’re meant to be anticipatory actions, not reactionary actions.

2 RepliesWe need exotic to make rift different, such as boost def, abilities regeneration rate. It can also act as trap to debuff enemy or damage enemy.

Edited by Swift: 7/7/2020 12:02:35 PMI've pretty much learned to use it pre-emptively or just to recover from a firefight quicker after its done. If you try and set it up right as an engagement starts you're pretty much -blam!-ed. Healing rift adds virtually no survivability to the point where i don't change my tactics shooting at other warlocks in a rift and empowering rift barely adds any damage boosting - a 3 tap hand cannon still takes 3 shots.

1 ReplyEdited by Infamous067: 7/6/2020 5:27:48 PMI play all classes but play more warlock and both titan barricade and rifts need a buff to how fast they deploy their ability. Titans might be slightly faster than warlocks but they are still very slow, the whole point of a titan is to make room for their team but they cant even do that on a game where everything dies in less than a second. Warlocks were meant to be a damage/healer class but they cant even do that when their rifts are so slow, Its impossible to heal a teammate in time before they die to a thorns poison or an incendiary grenade because casting a rift is slow and leaves warlocks exposed even behind walls. These slow animations were fine back in vanilla because the ttk of the game then was almost 2 boring seconds so it made sense to have slow animations for balance. The game is now very fast paced and many things have changed over they years so there is absolutely no reason why barricade and rifts casting animations need to stay where they are. Hunters have always had a balanced and snappy dodge which is awesome so I don’t see why anyone would even say its not logical to buff a simple speed animation for 2 classes. For any idiot that says “Its not a panic button or you gotta cast it before the enemies get to you” shut up, what a stupid and ignorant thing to say. Thats some hunter thing to say, how can a hunter main understand when they have always had a reliable class ability? They say “oh but you can die from it!” Again, shut up. Dodge has more benefits than a simple get out of jail card, dodge provides a break in aim assist while dodging, it breaks tracking grenades from chasing you like axiom bolt or firebolt, it can stop stormtrance from dealing damage to you while you are in the middle of dodging and on top of all that, dodging provides the ability to either reload your weapon or return a full melee charge all while having a really fast cool down. Damage rifts and the small barricade for titans are a joke and everyone knows it. A simple speed buff animation wont hurt anyone but grant a much needed quality of life change to already 2 underperforming abilities.

11 RepliesWarlocks (and I say this as a long time Warlock main) have been the master class for a long while. Not to mention rifts are not nearly as bad as you think. Chill out dude

1 ReplyInstructions unclear, removed barricade shield

1 ReplyBeing in a rift is like having 2 healthbare. You destroy eveyone in primary 1v1 and do a huge pressure on your opponents for longer then you need. Moreover, it's too powerful if you can save your life and also get an advantage on your opponents as the hunter with the old wormhusk crown, the dodge was a second life without disadvantages. So, if you do that buff, you need to reduce the healing effect.
-
1 ReplyWe need an Exotic armor piece that make rifts repel grenades, that would be hilarious.
-
I actually thought they could maybe give us an exotic leg piece. Perk: Your Rift moves with you for a moment after it's initially placed. I was thinking 1.5-2 seconds - this is enough time to gey a shield from healing rift and enough time to pop it behind cover and come out.
-
30 RepliesSounds like you're using rifts wrong. It's not a panic button. They are a chess piece that you move into place far before the enemy charges at you.
-
3 RepliesThey could be worse. They could be a Titan wall which is only good for revives in trials.
-
1 ReplyI’d like to see both barricade and rift animations sped up a little
-
4 RepliesI am warlock main Rift is fine all you need learn how to use it Run slide rift that quicker

-
I have no problem with rift, in pve at least
-
1 ReplyI would like it if Warlock rifts were able to be casted from a distance, like you throw a light ball and where it lands, the rift appears after a short delay, and making it so any enemy guardian that walks into it gets slowed if you use the healing rift or their damage drops a bit if using empowering rift? That would make it unique so that Warlocks have more flexibility when using the rifts while giving them a bit more utility when used offensively?

Make it blind and slow down enemies like a tether, and shorten the activation animation, that’s all it needs.
