DISCLAIMER: Before I start I want to discuss two things. Number 1, I am not asking for nerfs or changes to any of the abilities or items I'll be talking about, the point of this is to vouch for an exotic left back in D1. Number two, everything I say is my opinion, I don't know if this is how Bungie designed the game to be like, this is merely my own perspective.
To be blunt, I feel like Twilight Garrison should be added back in if Icarus Dash is available to warlocks. I think its safe to say that titan mobility (at least horizontally) should exceed that of warlocks. I'll try to explain my reasoning based on my own terms which are horizontal mobility (left, right, forwards, and backwards) and vertical mobility (up and down). There are definitely better terms to describe whatever the hell I'm trying to suggest, but I don't make the game, I play it.
Anyways, let me start off with hunter, the class with best vertical mobility in the game. Hunter's dodge ability allows the player to change their momentum instantly with the press of a button while on the ground with a pretty low recharge rate. However, in the air, hunters struggle to fight or evade while jumping, due to their jump being a quick boost into the air, only to fall back down once reaching to maximum height of the jump. What hunter lacks in vertical mobility, hunter is able to make up with horizontal mobility. The opposite can be said with warlock. Warlocks have no real horizontal mobility (with the exception of Icarus Dash/ Top tree Dawnblade), however are able to fight mid-air with their jump which allows them to float up and down at basically a constant velocity.
Then there is titan, which I would say is the middle man, with decent vertical and horizontal velocity. Titans upwards lift allows them to shoot while jumping up, but to end up falling downwards when they reach the peak of their jump. Horizontally, titans are able to utilize shoulder charges to gain an forward increase in speed (or to just kill someone). So to simply everything so far: hunter good on ground, warlock good in air, and titan somewhere in between.
Now to finally get to the point. With the inclusion of changes to Top Tree Dawnblade, warlock is able to utilize both vertical and horizontal mobility while mid-jump and using Icarus Dash. Is this a bad thing? Not really, you sacrifice using a different subclass than one you want to in order to use this ability, and to be honest most people probably can't utilize the ability mid-combat and re-adjust their aim on their target before they die. What I've been wondering is if warlock is able to have this ability, then why can't titan? This is the part where I praise and glorify the Twilight Garrison from D1, which gave titans the ability to evade while airborne. If titan is hypothetically the middle man of mobility, why can Icarus Dash be added in the game but Twilight Garrison has not. I think Garrison would fit perfectly, if titans were second to utilizing mobility. Hunters have the class ability to dodge, which sacrifices nothing, warlocks have to sacrifice using a certain subclass, and titans would only have to sacrifice using an exotic slot for armor.
Now to clarify one thing; no, I'm not a titan main. Now to clarify why I even care. To be honest, I rarely used Twilight Garrison in D1, let alone played titan, however, with the addition of Icarus Dash, I feel like titan has been left out of manipulating vertical mobility in D2, especially for a class that I feel like needs more focus on mobility than warlock does. This is just something that has been in my head for a while now. Plus, I know many people would also like to see the return of this exotic.
TL:DR
Titans should have better an option for better vertical control mid-air than top tree Dawnblades. So bring back Twilight Garrison.
TL:DR the TL:DR
Bring back Twilight Garrison.
