Well then just uninstall and play cod or something. You don’t have to like sunsetting. But it has to happen. You’ll understand that eventually.

  • What this guardian says. Accept it. Embrace it. It’s happening and there is nothing to stop it. We must adapt to how the game changes, good or bad

  • If everyone who has a problem with gear retirement took your advice you realize there would be an unsustainable number of players left for the game to continue to be a viable investment for Bungie? You get that right?

You’ll understand that eventually.
Seeing as we haven't had sunsetting in five years... and you continually spout that Destiny is "great"... I don't think it has to happen. Bungie just aren't capable of finding an actual solution, so are changing the game to fit the laziest solution they could find... all driven by a creative director who played WoW... but didn't actually develop it... so has no understanding of why the system works in other games... Destiny doesn't have the systems in place to compliment this change, so will therefore become even more of a monotonous hamster wheel, with less content and more grind

  • They used a more subtle form that players liked more, all Y1 guns were replaced with Y2 guns simply because they were better not because they had a cap. Bungie is forcing this on players making all hard work irrelevant Go watch the video people are passing around about sunsetting

Weapons/armour in alot of MMO's are the equivalent of Destiny's power level, it is how you reach the arbitrary cap for newer content... then the character itself is the build... due to having more in depth and detailed RPG elements. In Destiny, the guns and armour are the build, so by sunsetting them, they are basically removing the work you put into making them... Destiny is reliant on its guns because it is an FPS, therefore guns are integral to the set up and building of characters. It also misses the fact that the weapons share archetypes, and this the differentiating factor is the perks... these are still in the game, and will still require balancing even with these changes. Sunsetting doesn't solve this. Also if that was the armour issue (perks), they could simply make the seasonal mods only operational for that season... so a universal mod slot that accepts a different mod each season, thus totally ridding us of "power creep" and balancing. The problem with this, is that it won't incentivise people to spend silver on a shiny, new transmog system that coincides with this change... With Bungie it comes down to two goals: Minimum effort Maximum profit

  • Why everyone use the same sentence: "If u dont like it don't play it" or "Just uninstall it." If u played destiny 1 and come destiny 2 and u see that this version has more problem then destiny 1, it's just sad and u just want to say your opinion.

  • Look, you can think that it is necessary. And that is fine. You can even like the idea. Again, that is fine. But you aren't making a compelling argument in regards to why it "has to happen". And the point that many people are making in regards to this topic. Neither is Bungie. Power creep if it existed is a balance issue. The whole point of changing gear in year two was the ability for Bungie to tune items separately, so that they didn't have to nerf a whole class to fix a problem child. So sun-setting doesn't address that aspect. Size limitations. Again, they are rotating content out of the game. Making it unavailable. So the idea that leaving all of this gear in, but making it less useful somehow addresses a technical issue? Again, sun-setting doesn't do anything in regards to that. My completely masterworked Lonesome, or Night Watch is IDENTICAL in regards to it's size, power, stats etc. So the idea that I should have to get another one, JUST to up the power cap? Why exactly does that "have to happen"? My 65 base armor, that can take the same mods, and ornaments as anything I get this season. How exactly does sun-setting it and making me get another set, with the same stats, mods, etc. improve the game? Why does that "have to happen". Those are the questions being asked. Not just a bunch of people complaining about some random pinnacle that was never an issue to begin with.

  • It has to happen because he's been told it has to happen, by a company that has lied at every turn for seven years, and he believes them.

  • It's a poorly executed idea that so far isn't following the reasons we were given for it to happen. He will understand that eventually.

Either that or he’ll disappear once sunsetting occurs. I’ve really only seen him around here since that announcement, spreading his sunsetting ways.

  • D2Y1 is why it has to happen. Once people have everything they want, they stop playing. And being able to use your 65 base armor forever means you’d never need to farm for that piece again. Now apply that to every weapon and armor piece in the game and what do you have left? No reason to play the new content more than once.

  • God forbid they make enough content that people want to play. Crazy idea to make a game that people want to play because it's replayable and fun.
