I keep trying to get people on board something that helps everyone and it's mind-boggling how hard it is. I can't believe people would rather keep fighting over this crap instead of coming together to solve a problem in a way that benefits all EQUALLY.
I ran a poll a while back and I got very disappointing results out of a ~300 sample size. I'm afraid that somehow the question was misunderstood and people took it as something else entirely. This isn't stopping me from trying to reach everyone here and actually get people asking for it.
Because that's the only way it's going to happen, not just me, but everyone. Every single post that ever graces this subject should be asking for something harmonious and not one over the other, we've gone through this cycle so many god damn times. Why am I the only one that's seriously acknowledging it and seeking a REAL solution?
There are 3 posts on the front of trending all asking for SBMM back. These posts are bad. I'm sorry, it's the truth. Not because of SBMM, but asking for it and ONLY it. This kind of desire is motivated out of selfishness, it is for anyone asking for one OR the other. Most of the time, the posts are literally personal rather than objective. ( I can't do anything, I stand no chance). This kind of perspective does not care about others, just the individual.
So how do we fix a personal problem with MM that everyone experiences differently? Give everyone the CHOICE of what they want. And NO what we have now or before was NOT a choice. The second you start separating players in different playlists because some want one MM and others the other, it is NO LONGER A CHOICE. When player pools for one are sabotaged, the concept of choice has died. people migrate to the more populated pool naturally because that means actually finding a game and not against the same 6 stack that just murdered them.
I will define Preferences AGAIN and try to keep it simple, if anyone has been looking at the image I keep linking in these things, you'd see pretty much everything you'd need to know. I mean, for christ sake, Skill AND Connection are BOTH prioritized. This is HALO 10 YEARS AGO. 10!
As a priority system, YOU, yes, YOU can restrict the search parameters of your MM to curate the kinds of people MM chooses to put you with/ put with you. No longer statically bound to a single type of MM. This is more dynamic, and lets everyone have WHAT THEY WANT.
This DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT SEPERATE PLAYER POOLS, that is the best part, because that means no playlist is dying due to one preference being larger in popularity the the other.
This enables games where someone who is simply looking for a good connection to find similarly skilled players also probably looking for good connection, others probably just want close skill, some might want both, some might want neither and don't care, but if everyone's desires are met, then the match is good.
This is what we should be asking for, something that leads to harmony. Something that ENDS this argument.
So for the love of all of each other.
STOP FIGHTING, STOP MAKING POSTS ASKING FOR ONE OR THE OTHER, IT ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING

I think the problem here is that your proposed solution is too rational. By not picking any preference, matching would be strictly first-in-first-out...in other words, very fast. Restricting by connection or skill would slow it down as those would try to be matched. Everybody who wants the current CBMM would pick "Connection". Everyone who wants the previous SBMM would pick "Skill". Anybody who wants both would be able to get that, too. Everybody wins, nobody loses. Queue times are short for people who want that, and connections are good for people who want that, and people who want to match against players of similar skill get that, too. So, of course, everybody downvoted you. This basically means that nobody cares about other players...only themselves.

Having a choice is a great idea. I hate CBMM because I just can't get a good game anymore. I was really enjoying Control, and was getting slowly better, but now it's just awful. Quite boring and me and my daughter end up leaving loads of matches because the other players are too highly skilled compared to us, so it's just murder.

2 RepliesHere are my big three: 1). Develop cross play to combine the player base. 2). Add matchmaking choice 3). Institute some sort of rage quit protection. Also Some sort of bonus for staying in or joining a short handed match.

2 RepliesI used to post about preferences all the time a couple years ago. My posts pretty much got the same amount of attention that this one has.
