Power Leveling is a waste of our time

Finally someone made an article about the unnessecary power grinding. I've been discussing this for a while now. Bungie your game is getting boring to play, and im not talking about the good content thats already been established in the game like the raids and dungeon. Im talking about having to grind out our power level constantly every expansion and every season. Its exhausting and it makes me not want to play this game. I wanna be able to play new content without having to play a lot of old content just to be able to do the new. I have friends who stopped playing who considered coming back to play destiny but when they get on they only play for like 1 or 2 days and stop when they realize they have to grind 200 - 300 levels just to be able to do the dungeon, raid, trials, or ib. And dont get me started on sunsetting, im against the idea completely but we know ya gonna do w/e ya wanna do regardless of what we say. I also have a couple of friends who permantely stop playing d1 for the same reason and now you wanna do it again. Cool...

Grinding to level up is what Bungie and fanboys consider "content". Rational players know it's filler to take the place of meaningful content.

This is one of the reasons I haven't completed SotP or CoS. Dispite being in a very large clan it still took me time to level up to those raids. Then I was unable to get anyone to sherpa me through a completion (part of clan description). I've managed one GoS completion and was able to get a group for attempt the other, but we were unable to complete it. I haven't been able to get help since then and doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. Now with the Deep Stone Crypt and VoG coming up with the next expansion, it seems like I will once again be missing out.

Leveling honestly ruins this game. I have tons of friends who would love to participate in the endgame part of destiny but can’t be bothered spending weeks slaving away at the same repetitive milestones and bounties so they don’t play. I had a ton of friends who got hyped about the new dungeon reveal and got on for the new season to play, only for the dungeon to be 60 levels above everyone. So they didn’t play and they still don’t play because no one likes that stuff. It’s a roadblock to the fun parts of the game. You wonder why people buy endgame ready accounts? This is why. You wonder why people buy recovs? This is why. You wonder why people AFK forges? This is why. You wonder why people don’t play the game? This is why.

(It was the loading screen that did it for me. I don't PLAY "GAMES" to be FORCED to accept the (LGBTQ...RST) community. I do NOT PLAY "GAMES" to be forced to swallow the (BLM) shit either. 2 RepliesYeah, it's a broken system. They introduce a piece of "new content ", but it's 40 levels higher than seasonal start level. So to play the few minuted of "new content ", you need to grind hours away in all the same exact areas since launch against all the same enemies.

Power level is literally just a key to access content it means nothing after that it’s pathetic

Power grinding is just useless, because you're getting more power, but it doesn't matter since it's scaled down to the base power everywhere you go. You're upping your power but you don't become stronger, you just get access to more places. Right now I have to up my character to 1060, just so I can access the content I paid for. In any other online RPG, when you up your character, you actually get stronger. In Destiny you just get a bigger number

1 ReplyDoing the same things I was doing 3 years ago, let's face it 6 years ago really, just to increase the light level to do new stuff is miserable. This season I logged on, saw the wall of work in front of me, and logged out. This game is borderline masochistic, my friends left a LONG time ago and it took me years more to really, truly, understand why. I thought they were just -blam!-. Nope, turns out they just don't want a second job as entertainment.

Some people like to only play PvP, some people only play public events. Some people don't want to grind for guns because of sunsetting. Some people will grind for guns because they think one year is plenty of time to get to play with it. This game is a bunch of different things to different people

You'd think that Bungie would've learned their lesson after they had to set the base power level to 750. After enough time of increasing the power cap, Bungie will have to do this again or it'll become nearly impossible for beginners to catch up in a reasonable amount of time yet again. And Bungie already has a perfect replacement to increasing the power cap: Artifacts. What if instead of increasing the power cap of our gear every season, Bungie instead had us focus on increasing our power through our artifacts? That way instead of having to increase the power cap each season until they reach ridiculous levels, Bungie can just simply set our artifacts back to zero when the next season starts.

I Agree, All my friends already stopped playing for that reason and the constant grind. I still bought the season pass to give it a last chance, but.... The events are mostly to high for me, you see all around people with high power level. and i dont have no will and strength anymore to keep grinding every season fot the next 50 until maybe 99999. And you only have the same content every and every time. So many Reasons. i have no words anymore im exhausted.

2 RepliesI think Raids, Trials, dungeons and Iron banner should have power caps. Everything else shouldn't. Like let's say the max light level is 1200. Raids and Trials are at 1200 max. IB and dungeon are at 1190. And we start the season at 1180. Pinnacles, powerfuls, prime are removed. All engrams now have a random chance from +1 to +3 your improve LL. And these light levels never change. Once you hit the cap, you did it. From 1179 and below you can get blues up to 1179. After that only legendary drops can raise power.

I am doing the pinnacle grind and I absolutely agree it’s so pointless. I can already do Prophecy dungeon easily with 1060 character. Why am I getting my gear to 1060 so I could bump to 1070 or 1080? No idea.
