If you're going to sunset, then sunset. Don't half ass it and shaft the player by reintroducing the exact same gun while making the older one obsolete. How can you not have considered this? It boggles the mind.

5 RepliesTo bad Paul Tassi sucks ass to bungie most of the time. I quit reading forbes as well because Paul Tassi can't think for himself anymore either. I am just tired with all of them. Bungie violated our trust, our time, our faith in them, our efforts, and our resources. this game is boring af and it only gets worse. i would have never guessed the low lengths Bungie the lazy would go to.

That’s because PowerCreep is just a Red Herring. If it was real we couldn’t get the same guns with the same perks. Some weapons even have better, more powerful perks. There are 2 reasons for SunSetting 1) Targeting Pinnacles- They want pinnacles Out of EndGame Content. They’ve realized that most pinnacles are cheesy and are too hard to work around. So they’re discontinuing them out of the EndGame. 2) To increase playtime by making you regrind the weapons you’ve liked and already use. PERIOD.

1 ReplySo, you think it's a bad idea to update weapons into the new/current system? I'm tired of doing event/activities to get some outdated y1/vanilla D1 weapon that doesn't have mods, or random rolls. I get that everyone has weapons that they GRINDED for to get that perfect roll, but you can't compare that to outdated relic weapons that NEED updating. If it means that all weapons eventually get sunset and re-issued, I guess that's worth it. Especially if these 'reissued' weapons have access to better perks that fit them. Like the Ikelos Shotgun. I am so HAPPY that it's finally getting updated. I only hope the other Ikelos weapons get it, too. (I'm thinking so) Plus, grind monkeys will LOVE the fact of having something worthwhile to grind for again. The main problem is making activities that FEEL rewarding in addition to earning these reissue weapons. I think some of them SHOULD be special FORGE bounties, or Banshee bounties. Heck, give Ikora something to do. When Bungie first introduced the Black Armory, I thought it was gonna be a way to UPDATE weapons and armor, or to customize them. It was a dropped ball, imo, to just use it to introduce more weapons, that could have went to different activities that needed better reward pools. I YEARN for the day when all weapons in D2 have access to ALL weapon Mods and perks, where Masterworking is uniform across the board. I see what Bungie is TRYING to do. But all I read is butthurt people complaining about their 'god rolls' going bye bye. Way to look at the bigger pcture.

11 RepliesMake sure to check out my post! I have 700 upvotes on that topic. I’m hoping to reach over 1,000. We can change this if we work together. The thread needs action to keep it alive!

2 RepliesGood lord, people, they did consider this. They planned this. It's not a mistake, it's by design. Content and reward trends have consistently moved towards doing more and more of the same for less and less. Now they're literally making you toss out guns you like to get a new one with a higher light level, and repeat the same grind again to get one with decent perks. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is the final evolution of their recycling and investing zero dollars to get your dollars. They'll find a way to do worse.

Its hilarious the audacity of this lazy company to start doing it before the weapons are even sunset.
-
It’s Bungie. Logic is not part of their ability, or future plans.

1 ReplyI’ve had a lot of issues I don’t care for in this game for years now, and this looks to be the nail in the coffin for me. I just can’t do it. Expecting me to re-grind things I already have is just insulting. It’s unapologetically telling me that the extra time I occasionally take with content to get weapons or armor I want is fruitless. It took me ages to get rolls on Gambit armor I like for my Hunter. Ages still to Masterwork the sets from Forsaken era/Season of Dawn. And come September, it’ll be worthless in activities going forward? Yikes. Not even going to bother talking about weapons. In the first place, gatekeeping content by attaching numbers to the items in the game, rather than a number attached to your character, was always a tedious affair for the player to deal with since the franchise’s inception. I sincerely wish they’d do away with this system, because it really makes enjoying the game more annoying than it should be.

1 ReplyEdited by BiggDogg10: 6/28/2020 5:30:20 PMOnce the next season is closer to arrival and Bungie needs the community to buy it, we will get a response. It won't answer our questions, but we will see Bungie responding only because they need to sell us their game.

3 RepliesEdited by Gowda: 6/28/2020 8:59:13 PMOnly streamer get quick responses from our community managers. I thought Sunsetting would mean new weapons but that's not the case. I grinded for gawning hunger, got a good roll and then they said that they are Sunsetting weapons but got the exact same roll in season of arrival with new power cap. How is that Sunsetting? Bungie is trying to create artificial grinding to keep us occupied.

2 RepliesFunny that Kelly green is not here to tell us how great it is...

2 RepliesThis is my only issue with it. I don’t mind the idea of it in general, but to reissue literally the exact same weapons with the “previous version” being obsolete is bad. They need to have different potential perks or stats or..... something.

1 ReplyThis game is a hamster wheel. You are the hamster. The grind is the wheel. Making you grind for reskinned stuff is how Bungie keeps you on the wheel. The longer they keep you on the wheel, the better the odds you will buy something from Eververse. Time literally equals money to Bungie in this scenario.

5 RepliesIt appears Sun Setting is being introduced to create a increase in the revenue stream for Bungie. This is what I see so far: - Bungie is making 85% of the legendary guns in the game obsolete with the light score cap as of September. Gear as well. - Bungie sells upgrade materials, new weapons & gear, etc in their seasonal pass. - Bungie sells weapon ornaments and gear skins in their store. - A continuous recycling of weapons and gear means increased sale of seasonal passes, new ornaments, new skins. Here's the problem. In this game there is nothing that uniquely identifies one character from another. Gear and weapons are both our reward for playing and the only way we can strengthen and apply an identity to our characters. It's not like other MMOs where you get points to raise core stats (ESO, Neverwinter, to name a couple) or have some other way to create that unique character that is an expression of you. As a player, when you take away our rewards and the only thing we can use to personalize our characters, of course it's going to cause a reaction. And notice they haven't added a mechanism to raise your current weapons to the 1360 cap. And you know they can do this. It can be argued that they are doing this solely for game balance however there is to much evidence to support the argument that Bungie is just looking to increase their revenue stream. Bungie, if you want an increase in revenue stream I would suggest you come up with a different strategy. This new system will create a revolving door of players joining and leaving the game and as a result your population will decrease.
Don't half ass it and shaft the player by reintroducing the exact same gun while making the older one obsolete.
People been saying this since day one. What else did you expect? This is exactly how bungie wanted it to work. This isnt a fluke, its a choice.

2 RepliesEdited by Lull9: 6/27/2020 10:24:48 PMIf we aren't getting mostly NEW weapons moving forward then sunsetting is complete lazy bullshit on their part and has little or nothing to do with "balance."
-
They did consider this, you think they reissued them by mistake?. This was the intent all along.
-
11 RepliesThis needs to be responded to.

21 RepliesBecause there’s new gear too... unless you are blind.

2 RepliesThe same fool who arogantly told us all YOU ARE WRONG continues with his backtracking. Only now is it dawning on him what a crap deal Sunsetting - forced obsolescence - is for players. But not quite yet figuring out that Sunsetting has NOTHING TO DO WITH Sandbox balancing. Well done Paul.
-
The idiot that praised sunsetting at Forbes putting out an article yelling “hey! This is not what I want what had happened!” You know what, maybe you should READ the TWAB carefully first, and lubricate you little brian with some olive oil, try your best to figure out what sunsetting actually means, instead of mindlessly WRITING the propaganda for this stupid idea.

If friends will ask me: "Describe the game called Destiny?" Me: "It feels like Tom Cruise is behind the steering wheel when they made this game. The enemies feels like you're fighting a Mimic horde and we've killed an Alpha Mimic 6 years ago. Now we are resetting the week over and over trying to do the same stuff over and over while expecting a different result. Game could have been called - "Destiny at the Edge of Tomorrow!" Friends: "So why do they call it Destiny? . . ." Me: "I don't know . . . . . . because it doesn't have one?"
-
Lmao we’re never gonna get one cause -blam!- us right?
-
2 RepliesIf you think they didn't consider it then you are the idiot they think you are. Not a dig a you personally, but they know exactly what they are doing! They think the majority of the players are stupid enough to accept it

I agree 110%
