The only thing Scout Rifles need is the damage drop off to be removed. In D1, they didn't have damage drop off.
A Scout should be viable from medium to long range. Not short to medium range. And auto rifle need their range shortened considerably. They shouldn't be reaching clear across the maps. In any activity.

No they very much did have damage dropoff in D1 -- it was just very long. I used to pick off the spider tank in Devil's Lair strike from the far edge of the area with a scout rifle -- the damage was slightly less but it was far safer... (For some reason spider tanks were way scarier in D1)

You aren’t cross mapping anyone with autos unless they’re standing still and not fighting back.

Watch Frostbolts vid on the False Promises. Killing Wind makes it crazy consistent across the map.

Edited by Unbreakable Patches: 6/26/2020 2:19:41 AMIs that a 360? That’s the one archetype where that at least makes sense. And even then I guess that only happens with a certain perk, too. The recoil of most autos makes them unreliable at range, not to mention.

Granted, he's a freak of nature in PvP so that comes into play. Autos are a little tricky to balance. After using a full bore, accurized rounds, range masterworked Gnawing Hunger w/ Zen Moment, I feel dirty. Zen Moment is the best thing to ever happen to autos. I thought the recoil on 450s that are supposed to be the best still had too much horizontal recoil.
