Scout rifles were literally not the meta like for 2 full years? which game are you talking about
-
Not even close.
-
Not really. People just grinded for Randy. That's not really a meta.
-
How else would you define something as meta when everyone is using it and other weapons got a range nerf, pushing more people into scout rifles?
-
Since it ended when people go Randy's. I rarely saw scouts after that. People didnt use scouts because they were good my dude. Not like people use 150hc and 600 autos. That's a meta. Mountaintop is a meta. Scouts not so much.
-
People were grinding for Randy’s until the end of the season and scouts out-ranged autos and hand cannons and pulses. Of course you’ll see a new meta when the season and sandbox changes, but the fact remains that scouts were a staple in crucible during that time. If we look at the top 10 weapons from that season, I wonder how that’d look
-
scouts out-ranged autos and hand cannons and pulses.
Scout rifles are supposed to out-range autos, hand canons, and pulses.
-
You might have missed it but both hand cannons and pulses, which were meta prior to Randy’s and scout rifles, had about as much range as scouts. Their ranged were both nerfed so if you wanted to have long range engagements without using a sniper, you had an advantage with a scout rifle
-
That’s not what a meta is
-
If a meta is not high usage and popularity among players, then please do enlighten me
-
Fun fact! Meta was originally (and still is) an acronym for most effective tactic available. They were not meta. They were used for a quest, not because they were the most effective weapons in the crucible. If you wanted to get wins and/or kills, the most effective weapons were handcannons.
-
Scout rifles outranged hand cannons since their range was nerfed at the same time. Scout rifles became the most effective weapon to use in crucible and thus became meta. Next!
-
You can say next all you want, you're still wrong
-
The facts are on my side and facts don’t care about your feelings
-
Don't say that the facts speak for themselves when all you have posted are opinions. Also, I don't think you know what out-range means. Scouts have out-ranged every weapon in the game except for snipers, since vanilla D1. Just because a gun out-ranges another gun, doesn't make it meta. It's all about the TTK. Randys came out in Season of The Undying. Everyone was using scouts because you had to for the quest. Scouts have NEVER had a faster TTK than handcanons. Here is a google doc with all of the TTK's from season of the Undying. Scouts were mid-tier despite being over-used. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_6zsM7kzvg0aUT8YtM_-Wg_5K1gKDOlrwfVzutEjq-s/edit?usp=drivesdk Give it a rest dude.
-
Meta != TTK You literally had a nerf to hand cannon range, pushing more people to scouts for those long range engagements that hand cannons used to dominate. Then you had a season full of scouts. Do you think people using Randy’s were still working on that quest? No! They still used Randy’s because it was meta
-
Even with the HC nerf, the ttk on handcanons were still faster than scouts during season of the undying. Did you not read that spreadsheet? Those weapons were tested AFTER the handcanon nerf. Try to keep up Jim.
