Ok Bungie. I don't mind the grinding for resources or the ridiculously hard quests, but the forced PVP needs to go.
There are PVE players and there are PVP players. Us PVE players don't enjoy having to spend grueling hours in PVP just for an exotic quest step.
I realize your trying to broaden our scope of play, but this needs to change. Very simple fix, you already have it. Instead of making one step entirely PVP based make each step attainable through either.
I'm working on the Thorn quest and now I'm at the part where I must kill Guardians with hand cannons and void power. This is a straight deal breaker for a PVE centric player like myself and many others.
You did do well letting us PVE for the resources instead of killing Guardians in the early Thorn quest step, but then once again you make it mandatory PVP.
I don't enjoy PVP and especially where I kill 5 Guardians with a void hand cannon in survival and you give a whole 3% toward the quest step.
Bottom line, every exotic quest should be completed entirely via PVE.

Thorn is a pvp weapon...

Me with precision handcanon kills for ace of spades

I get the feeling for wanting to collect all the exotics, just know that in order to get them you have to learn and eventually master all aspects of the game. Like one of these other guys stated, gradually ease into pvp bit by bit. At every match, try setting a goal, like getting one hand cannon kill. This helped when trying to get my revoker, i sucked with snipers in pvp. But every match I set a goal, and when I hit that goal, I would set another as a bonus, and when the match ended, win or lose I was a winner, if I got my goal that is lol (8 games in row without a single kill lol)
-
Why are you trying to get Thorn if you're an only pve player?
-
I don't mind this, my biggest problem is that some of the best PvE weapons are PvP pinnacles. It's pretty annoying.

I personally hate having to use hand cannons BUT found out they classified crimson as a HC not a sidearm. so yah just equip crimson and go to town! its the easiest hand cannon to use in crucible. finished that section quickly. crucible inst for everyone, some people don't like doing bad how to you expect to do well if you just give up after a few games of bs. or one game then off to pve. no just play like 5 in a row and see where you are take a break then power thru 5 more/ break/ 5 more. do something like that. with crimson! for example d1 crucible was my first ever ever pvp experience, I was absolute TRASH. I just stuck with it, died a million and ten times. eventually I got good..like real good...idk just find your pvp niche..itll suck a whole lot but you can do it!! and yah what they said, thorn is a pvp gun lmao

2 RepliesAnd if you die it sets back the progress by some on the Thorn quest. I gave up after seeing it but equipped void shotty and hand cannon and just played for fun. I have a positive KDR (not anymore after grinding Mountaintop, but it's coming back up), so eventually things worked out. (Hint, BADLANDS and Ace/Last Word work well. Last word is lawnmower.)

21 RepliesNaw. PvP players don’t complain when PvE steps are required. Know why? Because it’s part of the game. Not every single exotic is gonna be handed to you because you don’t want to play the game. It’s a Exotic Quest for a PvP hand cannon. You don’t see Thorn in PvE

I think every quest should focus solely on pvp but there we go.
-
To be fair, Thorn is p much a PvP weapon. So.

crucible is also part of the game, it's fine if exotic quests make you play crucible
