I have been watching older videos of Destiny 2, and I was wondering what happened to the green and gray engrams that apparently used to exist.

1 ReplyFire up a brand new character, and they still exist, for like five minutes. The problem is that they always went away with higher light levels - for the first 10 hours of the game even a blue felt like a great drop. But the frankly insane light escalation the game's suffered over the years means that even a brand new character rolls out hundreds of light levels below the old cap, and so EVERYONE is a late-game player.

2 RepliesSo you want.... MORE useless engrams on top of the useless blues we already get?
-
7 RepliesThis was how D1 was too. Once you reached a certain power level, low tier gear stops dropping. They did bring back greens during Y3 of D1, which I liked. No having common and uncommon gear drop, makes the game feel less rewarding. I mean in other rpg/mmo type games you get the full spectrum of rarities, so you kill a boss and get a couple whites, a blue and a purple. Verses Destiny, were you kill a boss and get a blue or purple.

I'd rather have one gray weapon than 3 blues after every game of crucible

Oh those, rip those engrams. Yeah I think they were removed cause they were useless.
-
3 RepliesThey were removed because they were absolutely worthless

You mean commons and uncommon engrams? They were gear lower tiered than rares (blues) that didn't come with mod slots or anything fancy, and they only dropped glimmer when dismantled. They were used solely to level up until rares, ironically, replaced them as your common drops.
