This is just a thought...but since we have collections now maybe it would be possible for shaders to work as an 'unlock' instead of a consumable world drop? Essentially I'm thinking that shader drops could work like mod drops do currently. You find ONE, unlock it, and then can use it as needed albeit at a small cost each time. No need for multiple drops of the same type.
Buying shaders for bright dust from tess already works this way. Let's let all shaders operate under the same principle.
I feel like this would help a LOT with inventory space issues
EDIT: I'm NOT saying we should have every shader available when inspecting armor. There would still be a limited amount you can carry at once. You would simply fill that inventory from collections, rather than having it filled with repeat world drops that you either have to store or dismantle

7 RepliesYou mean like the old D1 system from 6 years ago? Can’t have that they need filler in Eververse so people spend silver to get the real stuff they want.’

1 ReplyYou mean like D1? When it was awesome

I wish. Shader unlocks would be a huge quality of life upgrade and solve some UI and inventory issues however shaders are used as part of the garbage in our dopamine feedback loop from looting. Behavior studies have shown that making players repeat the loot box experience from activities reinforces the dopamine feedback loop and increases addiction. An addicted player will continue playing for the rewards regardless of the tedium of the requirements to get it.

Too many shaders for that kind of system sadly

Tess would lose a ton of her loot pool if they were unlocks instead of consumables, the whole point of eververse is to bleed players for money.

3 RepliesWe only need 1 of each shader Have it be applicable via the flair tab in collections (with preview on full armour set in collections) and a purchase system of 1 legendary shard Then a new system that uses the 4 triangular sections of the shader with the dominant colour at the top (12 o clock - rotating 90° clockwise to change that dominant colour) giving 4 options per shader This, applied to an ornament system that allows ALL armour to be universal ornaments, would make for some cracking good styles Bungie could But will they ?

Just expand the sander inventory. Please.
-
Nah they can't be an improved version of what we had in D1. They must be a drain on our consumables to milk play time to make this garbage game look better to share holders.
-
Dont you remember what cheeto prime puke smith said years ago? Youre gonna want to rerun content over and over for those cool shaders!
-
2 RepliesBut then I couldn't stand at the postmaster deleting 100 of them 1 at a time.

Please, ima comment everyday until we get a mod or some official reply

A couple thoughts...dunno if anyone has brought it up, because, honestly, TLDR: 1. Why not make it so you can peruse every shader and apply it at a "standard" cost*, so we don't have to go through our collections, pull out the shader, go to our armor/weapon, scroll to the shader, and then apply it? I think that would solve 90% of the asspain. 2. Why not unlock shaders/palletes, that you can then use to apply to particular surfaces on armor/weapons, a la (don't kill me) Anthem's paints/decals/wraps system. I know, I know. "Such blasphemy!" But one thing I really do appreciate about [that game which shall no longer be named] is the level of personal customization and creativity with the shaders, decals, wraps, and armors. It feels much more like an MMORPG, in that regard, that Destiny has, so far. :-/ *note: With the new economy, I don't see a problem with cost for shaders...we get so much "stuff" from the world and every trash piece can be dismantled for glimmer, parts, shards, AND enhancement cores. I've got a wealth of that stuff, and I don't get to play that often, so I really don't see a problem with a little cost to apply some stuff to our gear. You can make it back up in minutes, IMO. :-/

1 ReplyPersonally I disagree. I collected hundreds, probably over 1000 legendary shards each season from breaking down shaders. I look at it like this, example: Remember the Sundial, I got roughly 5 shards instead of 4 everytime I ranked up a Sundial because I got legendary shaders as well as weapons/armor. Doesnt seem like much until you start getting those things ranked up. Then over the season your resources have significantly grown. Shards may not be an issue for some of us but for others, it can be a challenge to gather a surplus. Just a thought

4 RepliesThe way we apply them needs to be like d1 again. Just have a slot for weapon shading and one for armor shading.
-
1 ReplyYou mean like it was in D1, where nobody had a problem with? Luke Smith: Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
-
Yes please god do this
-
Only said this to someone the other day
-
Shaders in D2 were a mistake from day 1, kinda like double primaries.
-
2 RepliesThis is one of those complete no-brainers that always makes me question whether Bungie gives a crap about the player experience at all.
-
Agree 100000000000%. With no player trading what is the point in keeping them as a consumable? Just have them be added to a shader book/page when we customize our armor looks with transmog.
-
I wish we could just, you know, pick the colors we want, without needing shaders.
-
1 ReplyThat's the D1 system . . .
-
Another good idea that benefits the playerbase, bungie will never allow it.
-
Awesome idea.
