Power Level Should last longer than 3 months alot of people cant keep up with the game

Bungie The way you had it in D1 was great it let us enjoy are max power for a good amount of time however now is a bit ridiculous i can never enjoy alot of my weapons becuase im forced to constantly try to infuse them to higher levels. i can never enjoy a high power level becuase then in 3 months it basically means nothing you should maybe increase it every 5 months or something idk but we grind hard for high light level then you take it away then we grind again you take it away with a new seaons its a damn hamster wheel grind at this point i dont feel like im making any impact

    Appreciate the feedback. We've let the team know that this season's power bump has not been enjoyed by a lot of players. Let us know if you liked the smaller power bumps between seasons or if you only want power bumps at certain times like every other season or just when expansions are releases. Thanks!

      • Power level increased with new content in D1 except the very last update. There was less new content in D1. Daily players need something to do to, many of us chase that number that so many claim means nothing.

          • Besides that in order to get to max rank you have to do all the powerful+pinnacle drop chores. For 1 to 3-4 weeks (depending how much you can play and how many characters you have) do the weekly power drops as efficient as possible: destination, story, moon, banshee bounties, crucible bounties, vanguard bounties, gambit bounties, 3 strikes, 4 crucible matches, 3 gambit matches, raids, nightfall ordeal, nightfall high score. Did I forget any? It's not fun. It's just a to do list. And once you've done that you can play all the activities you were already able to play at the end of the previous season. :S I'm highly in favor of only having a power rise every 6 months (50 levels) to a year (100 levels).

          • It's because Bungie decided to cater to the people who play this game as a job. Streamers and YouTube content creators. That's why we now have the never ending grind.

          • Most know this already but raising the cap is just added grind time and nothing more. Our max power is capped before we reach the max level just as it has been since the first game with LL. The difference though between both games the first game we didn't have a huge jump to reach the max level with each expansion. They are doing it ever 3 months now that it's has become stupid.

            It really sucks the feeling of accomplishment when the game takes power from you, and then forces you to make room for new pieces of gear to infuse with.

          • Yep. Power level increasing with each annual expansion would be OK. Increasing it each season just replaces actual content with a power grind of old activities.

          • Light level progression in this game is used more as filler to artificially extend the game, instead of being worthwhile content that benefits the player.

              • Honestly at this point I dont get why we keep getting a LL of 60 increase each season. It serves nothing but a wall to stop you from doing the new content right away. To force players to go do older stuff just to be able to do some of the new stuff. Which is probably so small in content that the only way to hide it is to let us farm and do older stuff all over again lol. I think only way LL should increase is with big major expansion. This seasonal B.S. that let's us increase our LL every 3 month is getting just boring as everything else. Heck do it every other season at least, why does it have to be every season, besides serving as a gate to stop players from doing some of the new stuff

                  • i have been saying this for a long time, the only time they should raise the power if for raids other than that what is actually the point? raise the power so we can still do all the same stuff??

                  • I personally enjoyed seasons where power is bumped up by 10, and get big jumps during more meaty expansions.

                    There should only be a power level grind in September. Throughout the year it is just totally unnecessary. It's not rewarding. It's not difficult. It's just a chore and barely anyone likes it, which is why so many people AFK farmed their way up this season. People would rather AFK farm than run the same old stuff we have been running for years. That says a lot about the game in its current state. Hopefully they change things for the December DLC. We have been doing the same power grind for far too long. I am glad this AFK farming happened because hopefully it gets them to actually change the way we level up, or get rid of it altogether throughout the year. There's no need for it when only a couple activities like a dungeon and public event are implemented. Every September should be a big jump up, new location, new raid, new activites, new strikes, etc. It isn't the same old grind. But between Dec-Sept, we shouldn't have to keep doing it since the DLC drops don't add much. This is one of my biggest gripes with Bungie. They don't learn anything from their mistakes and they don't give a damn to make them again, as long as it benefits THEM. Everyone hated Black Armory for this kind of thing. A new dlc dropped and people couldn't go into the new content. It's extremely stupid. So in Opulence, they announced that people could just go into Menagerie right away and enjoy the new content. Yet here we are and they do the same thing, only 10x worse. The thing is, they do it now because there is barely any content. If we weren't forced to level up, we'd be finished with the stuff after a day or 2, so it benefits Bungie to do this so it makes it look like there's more to do than there really is. It's disgusting really. The fact they are still pulling stuff like this 6 years into the bloody game. I hope that this was a wake up call for them though. People would rather AFK farm in their game than actually play it. I mean that is horrible for a video game.

                      was leveling like this in ttk? i forget because this whole grind is almost second nature in this game now. has it gotten worse or are we just getting mega burned out and realizing how terrible it is. i think with the introduction of transmog and the way mod slots are going to work, d1 vanilla leveling wouldn’t be so so bad. smaller numbers would be nice. for example if we just had say 27 as soft cap and 30 as the max level. you could do whatever you wanted to get to level 27, then to get to 30 you would have to do dungeons, raids, trials, iron banner, or higher level nightfalls. the gear from those activities would be the only things that drop at max level. i’m sick of this everything dropping at around your level. what if you were really under level and you decided to take on the challenge of an endgame activity. if you’re able to beat it at such a low level i really don’t think you should be rewarded with something around your level. you should be rewarded with the best gear in the game.

                          I really can't play as much as i used to and I am willing to accept that I might not be able to get my character maxed out. I loved the catch up mechanics this season where I was able to power up to 1000 from 3 missed seasons in 2 hours. I strongly believe that those who invest much more time into the game should be rewarded with higher power. There is no need to keep the entire player base on an equal level as long as they still can enjoy activities together.

                        • I know everyone is tired of a new public event that ultimately ends up being something recycled or pieced together from various other content. I get it, Gambit your thing? Well your gonna have a blast doing this public event. But as much as we hate grinding levels it should be a thing, to a degree. I'm not saying the power increase is too large, too often or too tedious, most of the posts will agree. I feel like we need to look at this slightly different, even though we are tired of it. When a new public event comes out there shouldn't be two guardians knocking it out as if we are doing a mining drill on the edz. It should have harder enemies, more enemies and we should have to be a bit stronger each time to the point where we can do the event with minimal guardians. How else would players feel strong enough to do an activity? I get that it's a power grind but it's necessary to make players feel they are becoming more powerful in some way. Same thing with dungeons. "My light is not high enough yet to make a difference in the dungeon". It's not power gated, your not strong enough to do it yet. I have my reservations about a dungeon going away at the end of the season. Don't like the idea. The point I'm getting at is... How are they supposed to make the game feature more powerful enemies to fight that are challenging as requested by the community, without instituting a requirement or step to face said enemies. If you want to face the tougher challenges you have to put in the work. But, bungies needs to fix how we gain power in the engram sense, and in the seasonal model, because it's not quite there yet.

                        • This is just my opinion but the seasonal power bumps just made the case for no power bumps at all for the game. Its just another grind mechanism that really isn't needed anymore. Just make challenging content and great weapons. Forgo any more power levels.

                        • I'd just like to note that this particular topic has been mentioned a lot recently but this one is by far the most "chill" version of them all, yet highlights the issue perfectly. And I wish, others could follow the example instead of constantly trying to insult bungie and/or game. Like a broken record.
