This is a message from the player base to Bungie. They want to play the new content when it comes out. They want to play the dungeon and heroic Contact. That requires a higher light level. Can you really blame them for not wanting do the same old boring dull grind that we've done for YEARS? I sure don't.
It's a mistake to gate new content, like the dungeon, behind power levels. Power progression is not interesting and it's NOT rewarding. Long time players get no satisfaction at all from leveling up. It's a chore, not a feature.
When a new season opens up, the last thing I want to do is play Gambit, Flashpoints, and any of the usual suspects that I had done forever to level up.

2 RepliesI don’t wanna be forced to play gambit either, I want to choose my activities that I want to do and level up and get enough power quickly to be able to enjoy it instead of constant grind grind grind in boring and forced activities.....
-
You are so right you hit it 100%. I didn’t do any of the forge farming cause I didn’t get a chance to but you still are very right. The chore thing just got me going. Wow nicely done my man.

7 Replieswhen AFK farming is more fun than playing the game, Bungie has a serious problem
-
10 RepliesAmazing how quickly they fix stuff that affects us positively and adds a lil fun to the grind. Unfortunately when it negatively affects us they take their sweet arse time. 🤷🏽♂️

Bungie didn't restore all Farming the Forge AFK accounts back to June 1, 2020 or were restricted or banned from some or all Destiny content or activities. We should not have Foresaken level grinding without Foresaken level content.
-
Power grinds should be annual like every new dlc or there should be no point of them... just sayin. I want to enjoy the wonderful game. Not designate time to pure activity and bounty grind.

Agreed. Well said

This decisions made for this game need to be a lot consistent that I feel is more of the issue here when it comes to the community and what feedback is listened too. I was looking back at how things changed with menagerie when collecting the loot from the chest, and since back then things have gone back and forth from one extreme to the other. IMO if how leveling is set up now or if it was left alone before the masterwork cores where change to enhancement from Forsaken, and it was consistent through all the seasons things like the farming wouldn't be a popular thing and this company wouldn't need to focus on things like that. IMO they really need to be a lot more consistent because the constant changing things effects how players will receive what content is put out

We should only power level at beginning of new year, not every season.

12 RepliesEdited by Noble 6: 6/16/2020 12:45:43 AMWell, that's the new flavor of Destiny, the thing you get once a game goes full blown live-service. They need you to play constantly, regardless of whether they have the content to back it up or not, it's all about player engagement. The funny thing is, and they probably hope everyone forgets it, there actually was a season when there was barely an increase in power. It only went up by 10 (+10 pinnacle) in Season of Dawn. But there probably wasn't enough engagement for Bungie, just look at the Raid completions: https://warmind.io/analytics/raid You can see how the line for Garden (the most played Raid) went down after initial release, because, ya know, it's older content, perfectly normal. But would you look how it went up again when they forced everyone to grind pinnacle gear for Trials and GM Nightfalls, that's the bump towards the end. It's obvious why they do what they do with the grind in this game. They reset you every season and put half the endgame behind a high power-barrier so they have high player-numbers to show throughout the entire year. This isn't about what's good for you or the game itself, which is why, if they actually respond to this in some manner, it will only be a half-measure. Destiny wants to be played all the time, it's your second job now. Start running again, hamster!

1 ReplyI don't like Bungie at all and make fun of them and their decision making constantly but one thing I dislike as much as Bungie is entitled, whiny, exploiting, hypocritical low quality gamers that make a big deal out of the dumbest shit. Seriously, the whole afk exploit just shows how inept and dumb Bungie is and it never should have been in the game to begin with. Just like every other cheap farm that was patched like the menagire exploit and the raid ppl were glitching into a few days early to get the first chest and bump up their power lvl for worlds first. These types of thing should never be in a triple A game but they are cuz Bungie is pathetic. But what's even worse than these things making it into the game is the losers who exploit them and abuse them and then when bungie fixes them they piss and moan like little biotches. Stfu. Lol.

5 RepliesEdited by Dr. Thomas Toughnuts: 6/17/2020 3:01:49 AM@Bungie I could not agree more with @Blade329. Here is a more in depth example of the need for a course correction in Destiny because I predict a significant number of us will not be back next season if this does not change for the better, and that could not be a more difficult decision for me. Whether or not you feel it or even care, is up to you Bungie. Around 2 years ago, some acquaintances at work knew I was not a gamer at the time, but hounded me for months that I would love this game called Destiny 2. One of them even gave me a copy as a gift for Christmas (thank you again; you know who you are). In short, it changed me to my core from an antisocial, isolated, non-gamer into someone vastly different, better and more well rounded; I am not even close to exaggerating. D2 was new, expansive, gorgeous, well written, with game mechanics I now use to measure other games against (and increasingly to itself from days gone by). I joined a clan, which expanded to Discord, and made a ton of new friends online (this is even explicitly stated on your code of conduct) which also spilled over into real life. Weekly, if not nightly raids, strikes and Gambit matches, granted they carried me through Crucible because I'm garbage in PVP but that was ok because we really seem to care for each other's experience in D2. It was nothing short of amazing. This went on solidly almost 2 years (much longer for others) where I devoted my time, energy and more importantly my hard earned money for new seasons, silver, and I even paid in-game to get light level boosted a few times when my IRL job was so busy, I just didn't have time to grind (even making that a consistent feature for new seasons would be a huge help for many of us). And most importantly, it didn't feel like a sacrifice, it was an opportunity to quickly play the exciting new season content with my good friends. I am personally aware of many who spend hours, days, weeks grinding their LL up in order to make the minimums for what they are working toward, and for whatever reason but usually conflicts IRL, more than a few (myself included) don't make it before the quest, raid, or object expires. All that time, energy and money literally wasted. The argument from some is "the grind is not that difficult", which I will grant you is true, but it is time consuming and no longer fun. I already have a job, it even pays me; so why keep paying to not have fun grinding my free time away? The grind for Light Level season after season has progressively squeezed the fun and enjoyment out of all the amazing hard work Bungie as done up to this point. In closing, I thank Bungie sincerely for all the experiences and friends you have given me. Granted this is just one person's opinion, but I think I'm done. See you starside. #grindallergic

Agreed. I loved the 3 days I had to power lvl to the top through Farming Umbrals. I am now it a good position and can play the game and have fun without the pressure to grind out 40 lvls. They need to work this out to remove the grind of lvling

1 ReplyEdited by Harryvok: 6/16/2020 8:47:01 AMPower grind is just a barrier to slow people down because they can’t make content fast enough. I have no interest in playing the same stuff I’ve been playing for years to get high enough to do new stuff. If it wasn’t for the forges, I honestly wouldn’t even be playing at all now. It’s just not worth my time to do weeks of monotonous grind to try a small amount of new stuff. And bloody hell, can we stop this boring ‘upgrade’ system every season? I did the sundial stuff and then completely skipped last season because I wasn’t doing that boring warmind upgrade. Have no interest in doing it this season either. Yawnfest. **Edit ** Well, they stopped the forges. I’ll help my friend who still plays run Pit of Hersey once a week and that’s it. I’m done.
-
12 RepliesTrue dat. I don't want to spend 2 weeks leveling up enough to try the dungeon. It wouldn't be so terrible, except they're getting rid of this dungeon after this season. Why does that make sense? It took me three or 4 months to even bother with the dreaming city dungeon. Why buy seasonal content if Bungie makes it where I can't try the dungeon if I'm in the middle of a heavy work schedule? If it stayed up for a year then cool... I would run it a few times. And before any jerk-offs try to talk about how they work and do dungeons all night... I'm not a 20 y/o fry cook. I am an Ironworker and I'm 48 years old.

Bungie can shovel the Umbral engrams, new power cap and all those new season related same old grind up to Mr. Smith’s rear with that hot fix.
-
I’ve been saying it for over a year, the entire power level system is wrong. So many things work against the player in Bungie a system. Have to play the same exact content every week (boring) you have to pray you get lucky (RNG) ok well it’s only 2 things I guess but still you have to play boring ass old content over and over until you get lucky enough to maybe increase your power level 1 or 2 and then do it again next next and the following week then next season and the following season. And what do you get for doing that? The ability to play gated content towards the end of the season. What’s next do it again.
-
AFK farming is for losers. Go play a different game like Fortnite with the rest of the kids.
-
Too much things in this game are a chore.
-
15 RepliesSo much dumb cry babies its pathetic
-
6 RepliesI’m surprised you’re only just now complaining about this. Destiny has been a boring and tedious checklist of chores for a while, if not since release. I guess it just takes longer for some people to come to that realization.
-
1 ReplyYep weapons still don’t fire consistently and sprint still off but thank goodness we got the afk farmers under control!
-
4 RepliesWtf now Umbral Engrams are useless... It was nice sometimes getting powerful gear but now they just don’t add any power... Grinding is just stupid in this game.
