Leveling up needs to be more interesting. It doesn’t really add anything but a grind, which people would rather do NOT playing.
This is a sign that light level increases need to be changed. The light level cap jumps up 50 levels a season, which people need to surpass to play the content. Personally, i’d find it much better to have a level jump of 10-20 a season, with a larger jump in the fall expansion that increases as you go along with the story.
meaning, the campaign increases power every mission, and provides a way to increase it. After that, there’s around 10 levels you can increase doing seasonal content.
If you want to level up in your favorite mode, doing well in that mode will get you higher power gear.
Say, you get a 30 bomb in survival. A piece of pinnacle gear might drop. (it shouldn’t drop in any casual modes bc of sweats ruining the experience.)
Or, you get 150k in a nightfall. Pinnacle gear.
It shouldn’t be the best way to level up, but you’ll still get there in good time, and it would be more enjoyable if that’s the way you want to do it.
TLDR; The power grind should be more enjoyable and passive. Forge farming shows that not many people enjoy that as content.
This is a big IMO, and i’m open to changing parts of it.
50 Replies3 MONTHS!! That’s how long you have to level up and do whatever you want to do. By playing an hour a day you should be at max level within the first month. Whether that’s 50 levels or 100. The real problem is people wanting to do everything in the first week.
-
They just need to do away with the whole pinnacle/powerful reward system. You should get power boost from every playable activity the game can offer.
-
1 ReplyIt still needs to be patched no matter what you type up. Literally coming up with an excuse to not play the game smh
-
9 RepliesSurvival is SBMM, so a bomb there wouldn't work. Like the rest tho. Reaching Valor rank legend should give you 10 levels on the season pass.
-
1 ReplyThey are obviously doing this as a result of incoming sunsetting. They want the power levels to jump by a large margin every season to discourage the use of older weapons that have sunsetted once it’s been implemented.

3 RepliesIt's too late. They patched it. I get kicked to orbit now after every forge completion.

1 ReplyEdited by Crota bin Oryx: 6/15/2020 11:43:09 AMLeveling up is what we have left in this game. For steamers, they did it in 2 days and maxed masterwork all equipment on 3rd day. Now they are all on endgame activity streaming to their followers. I checked some of their activities and its quite apparent that they used this exploit when they were not streaming and before anyone even knew about it. This is intentional grind for people who bought, love and play this franchise and keeps the numbers up. Welcome to the 'new normal' in Destiny! Just to draw parallels, I work in media and had a candid discussion with one of the magazine star who had this article on bare skin day (where famous models come online without any makeup grooming). She said that these days are not high social media fame days because people idolized and fantasise them when in full glory. I believe our streamers are the same, being underpowered gets them ridiculed so they have to exploit and get on top asap. I also think Bungie has a role in it.

4 RepliesThey already removed auto-matchmaking from Forges so it's dead. I don't know how people were skyrocketing to 1040+ overnight to begin with, it's taken me like a full 24 hours of on/off idle-farming just to get 20 levels on 1 character. Maybe RNG just hates me because I was doing everything right and I got boots like 80% of the time. But attacking the things people like is what Bungie does best while real problems or complaints go unheeded for weeks or months... if they are ever addressed. If you enjoy something you better prepare for Bungie to nuke it within a week. If you hate something you either deal with it for months or actively avoid it.

6 RepliesId just like to go back to d1y3 leveling, i dont enjoy milestone leveling because it makes each dlc seem like it comes with a list of chores i need to do before i can go have fun. New dungeon dropped! But before you play it you have to go do 3 strikes, 3 nightfalls, gambit, crucible, etc...
-
Too late, they patched it. GGs all

3 Replies10 years from now, friends will ask me: "Describe the game called Destiny?" Me: "It's a game about Bounties?. . . . . . That's all I can remember."
-
1 ReplyChasing LL in my eyes is just padding for lack of content. The story is done in a few hours, so LL used to keep running the same loop of activities over the weeks.
-
2 RepliesWhy... increase the power level for a single dungeon that will be gone in 99 days?
-
1 ReplyNot a bad idea for random pinnacle gear to have a chance to drop from activities that you do well in. They would have to tune it carefully tho, I feel like people could boost for it or something.
-
1 ReplyAgreed, forge farming just exposes a more deep rooted issue. Bounty grinding is so unfun.
-
1 ReplyEdited by WoofinAintEazy: 6/15/2020 4:02:29 PMEven with more enjoyable content for leveling, people will still use the easier option, especially when you aren’t wasting time. I mean it makes sense, because you’re gaining without doing anything, so I doubt increasing interest in the content will prevent those looking for shortcuts. Also, doing the best in crucible should not reward the best items. That’s a guarantee that cheating will be even worse! Lol

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/256341702/0/0 I wrote this up yesterday of a suggestion to a fix to forge farming this season

3 RepliesWrong... this game was ment for a grind.... It’s the only thing to really do anyway...
-
Lmao it’s been a thing since last year it’s not getting patched dude
-
I’ve already got 3 characters at 1040. Leveling is quick and easy, always has been. And yes, I still have more Pinnacle activities I haven’t done to het higher . And no, I won’t have time to finish them because I don’t play 20+ hours a week.

1 ReplyLeveling needs to be more interesting; organic progression centering on things people actually want to do. It also needs to be far less frequent. A new level cap every three months is egregious and unheard of in MMOs. It reeks of desperation from some bean counter at Bungie wanting to get player hours up.
-
2 RepliesI agree with lowering the max power jump to something more manageable, but if Bungie is dead set on the 50 per season, how about not releasing content the first week of a new season with recommended levels 20-30 above the max cap from the previous season? If the new dungeon was not released until next week, then players could easily have leveled up doing other new things.
larger jump in the fall expansion that increases as you go along with the story.
There's no reason the same method wouldn't work on all seasons. So, instead of starting the "Contact" event at 1030, start it at 950 the first week. That allows true new players who just started at 750 to get up to the level and learn it. Then, raise it up each week after that. The first few days, Contact was essentially RNG for patrol zones. If you had a fireteam of 1010+, then it went easy. If you had a couple random 750s...not so much (because the motes they pick up die with them).

Leveling up in this game can be so boring and tedious, it's no surprise that players want to go through it quicker.
-
This actually sounds great to me, though definitely 10 not 20 lvls each season. And they better do the campaign thing right
-
13 RepliesNah, just remove the timer.
