Last night I played a couple rounds of score attack and 1 round of matchmaking firefight and I could hear my team mates. Then a couple hours later I went into multiplayer matchmaking and everyone on my team and the other team was muted. Tonight the same thing is happening.
I've checked my settings and nothing is set to mute anyone and I don't think it's a mute ban since I've never used my mic while playing reach. I know your router settings can affect this but nothing has changed in there for that to be it and when I check my connection it says my NAT is open and working right.
It's been doing this for 24+ hours now. Is there something I'm missing here?

I just fixed the same exact problem. go to the profile tile that has your avatar in it on the my xbox row on the dashboard. and click it. then scroll to the right two tiles. first tile is your profile than account management and then online safety. The online safety is the one you want. Set it to adult. Hope this helped.

I was having this problem too, and figured out a solution which worked for me. There is a voice setting which is Xbox specific, not Halo specific which was somehow changed for me. I couldn't get to it from Family settings which everyone was suggesting, but here's how I did it. Hit the middle Xbox button on your controler. Go to the Settings card, then Profile. From there select Edit Profile and go to Privacy Settings. Once there the first option of Voice and Text make sure is set to Everyone. Not sure how mine got changed to Friends Only, but it did.

PJGINTX...had the same issue and this seemed to work. There are so many voice settings you need to be aware of, and this was the one that was set to "Friends Only". THx.

If you are participating in the dashboard update, go to your profile, and then online safety settings and make sure voice chat is not set to "Friends and Party" only. Also be sure to check your settings within Reach.

When I'm in the pregame lobby every player has a circle with a line through it next to their name. I'll have to double check my settings tonight but as I said in the first post, I haven't used a mic while playing reach so I didn't think you could get muted if you didn't use a mic.

The same thing happened to me. I don't think it's a mute ban, because: 1. I can still talk to my friends 2. I'm not a dick on XBL 3. My friend was unable to speak to ANYONE on XBL a few days ago, only through Halo: Reach, so I assume that was a mute ban I tried checking audio/video settings, family settings, ect. Unfortunately you seem to be Mute Banned for an indefinite period of time. Until your ban is up, you are automatically muted to everyone in Matchmaking. If they are kind, they can unmute you to see if you are worth listening to, but people are usually too lazy to do so. A shame.

did it ever occur to you that they either didn't have mics or were on party chat? i only use party chat when it comes to halo. for some reason the majority of people who play the halo games are incredibly obnoxious with their mics.
Posted by: JEZUStouchedME mute ban.
Yep, so many people have muted you that you are now mute banned, for some period of time you cannot talk or hear anyone. What ever you were doing to be muted so often, you need to stop.

I had this problem recently too. You have to go to your Privacy Settings. I'm not currently at my xbox, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but when you go to Privacy Settings it should be fairly easy to figure out.
-
So many people have found you loud and annoying enough to mute you, and now you're mute banned. Not sure how long it lasts, but you could try screaming less when you get it back.

dont know it sometimes happens to me
