(QOL request) Might be a foolish hope, but...more single player options?

Played D2 for the first time in a few months yesterday. The game auto-dumped me in the “Eris is vandalizing a tree or something” mission on Io. That was fun! Then a few quest steps later I had to do Gambit, Crucible, or a Strike. Went with Strike, but...less fun. I don’t like relying on other people to get things done in this game. Seems like every strike I play, the other two guys just wanna rush through as fast as possible, not even bothering to clear rooms or anything. And I get that, I do; sometimes I feel the same way. But that’s where the trouble starts, right? You can’t matchmake based on what mood you’re in at any given time. So...yeah. I like playing, but I don’t like playing with people. Or being unable to pause while I get water or something. I realize that I’ve maybe come to the wrong game, but honestly the core experience is great. I tried Borderlands 2 and honestly found it kinda boring; Destiny 2 has the right blend of guns, non-gun abilities, and—maybe most importantly—mobility.
