So it seems something went wrong with the update. When I click on my desktop icon for Destiny 2 I get a Steam - Error
An error occured while updating Destiny 2 (disk write error)
D:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Desinty 2\desitny2.exe
I browsed to that location and there is no destiny2.exe file. In my Steam app I went to Destiny and right clicked then properties. Clicked on Local Files tab and then ran VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES. This take about five minutes and then says...
1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired. (then a close button)
When will it reacquire the file? I'm guessing that's the destiny2.exe file. Also in my Library of games Destiny has a blue RESUME button and next to it says UPDATE PAUSED.
Every time I click RESUME it just stops again.
My D: drive is just fine with 500 gig free. I play every day with no issues until this update. I have now completely uninstalled D2 from my PC and re-installed it. Same thing, having issues with the destiny2.exe file. I have now completely uninstalled Steam AND Destiny and they are both installing again. I've been trying to get my game to work for 7 hours now. I was able to play for about 30 minutes and actually played the new content. For whatever reason when I left the game for a bit and came back (after maintenance) it wouldn't start again.

1 ReplyCan confirm I ran into this same issue today. Verified my game files, cleared my Steam cache, reinstalled Destiny, restarted computer and it was fixed. The restart seemed to have been the trick but I'm not sure which of the previous steps actually addressed the problem.
