I will say that I am in general not a fan of old content being removed, but that I can at least understand the rationale behind the decision. I am even in favor of there never being a D3, tbh. But that is precisely because I don't like the idea of old content going away forever. And the thing is, ironically, with D3 it wouldn't actually go away, because the old game would still exist.
While I could live with strikes and older activities like Forges or Reckoning going away, massively story-driven content like the campaigns and raids, I don't think I can do without. Part of the reason I play Destiny is because of the narrative, the epic space opera having been built over many years now. I remember playing through all of D1 for the first time before I bought D2 and I had a BLAST. So to think that not just some smaller campaigns, but THE literal campaign of D2 (The Red War) going away is... no, I don't think I want that.
I buy games to experience worlds I never could in my real life. I like the idea that these stories, which have in a way become part of me, are things I can experience whenever I want again. I can just pick any book I wanna read, any film I wanna watch or any game I wanna play from my shelf. But the fact that you will basically remove a story like that "from existence", only brought back IF you so choose to... well as I said, I don't think want that.
So if at some point, I cannot experience the full story of Destiny anymore, I think that will be it for me. I understand the limitations you're dealing with, but an "ever-evolving-world" is not worth removing huge chunks of a game's story for me. So I guess that if nothing changes, I will enjoy this last season and then bid my farewell. And you know, maybe, if there is ever a complete package like with "Destiny 1 The Collection", I might buy that at the end of the journey. Or not, in case the entire journey will never be there to experience as a whole.

5 RepliesThey're creating the vault idea. Wouldn't surprise me if they further innovate it eventually and give us the option to drag and drop content into the game and get rid of content we don't want to personally take part in. I was elated to see the vault idea as a remedy to the removal of content issue. And with that, there's no reason to believe we won't eventually develop the option to let players control what content they have access to personally.
