Upgrade modules and enhancement cores need to go...

So bungie if you are sunsetting weapons and armor upgrade modules and enhancement cores should not be part of leveling up armor and weapons anymore. I'm ok with legendary shards and glimmer. But to grind out for materials that are gonna be useless after a while the cost is too much. I'm not for or against sunsetting im waiting to see how it works out. However im not gonna grind for materials and armor I cant use. At least balance out the cost of masterworks g before you do this. What do you guys think? Reduce the cost of masterworks g or leave it how it is?

  • I think masterworking weapons is fine as its only like 15 cores. The thing that needs a price reduction is masterworking armor. It takes around 160 cores to masterwork 1 armore piece and about 360 to masterwork an exotic. For reference that's around 1,000 cores for one full set of masterwork armor. And for further reference you can get around 15 cores a day and an extra 30ish a week, making it around 105 cores maximum per week, so you would have to wait 10 weeks to masterwork a full armor set, or close to an entire season of grinding all your daily gunsmith bounties, all your spider bounties, and grinding your clan level for the extra cores. That of course is if you dont want to grind trials and ordeals.

    • I remember when some of us thought upgrading was too easy. It was kind of true back then, but I did warn we should be careful what we ask for. I don’t think we were specific enough. Now, I dread the process. It’s over baked. It’s also one of many barriers to entry if you’re new, as well as one of a few things keeping veterans from supporting new players or each other - either due to lack of time or lack of playing. Bungie came a long way increasing sources for upgrade mats, but only so far as it exponentially increased playing time to sustain the productivity you had before the mats were added. Including armor in sunsetting doesn’t paint a fun picture for investment going forward. I really hope they see that.

    • Yeah enhancement cores specifically are frustrating. You need way more of them than prisms or shards, as masterworking a weapon costs 17 cores (an armour piece only takes 3), yet they drop at about the same rate as prisms.

      • Now that we’ve grinded out 1000’s they’ll be sunsetted and with replaced with new upgrade materials.
