• Civil rights may have been solved, but racism still exists.

Imagine if people chimed in with “All Cancer Matters” during breast cancer month. Imagine if people chimed in with “All Cities Matter” when they Las Vegas shooting happened, or Sandy Hook, or the VA Tech shooting, or when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Edit: This September 11th let’s not forget that all buildings matter. This is what saying “All Lives Matter” sounds like. BLM is not an either/or proclamation. We rally behind people when they need it. That’s what we’ve always done.

The saying is meant to send the message that black lives matter too. But given that you felt the need to make an entirely new topic as opposed to replying in one of the others, this is a pathetic grab for attention.

When people hear the phrase “black lives matter”, why is it so hard for some people to simply respond with “I agree”? Responding with “all lives matter” is the equivalent of hearing someone tell you about their bad day and you feeling the need to downplay it with “oh yeah? Well I have problems too!!” Of course you have problems too. But can we take a moment to talk about his/her problems first without you getting offended? All lives matter didn’t come about until people started saying BLM. Which means it’s sole purpose is to protest someone else’s protest. And that’s just -blam!-ing dumb and selfish.

        • Someone had a good reply in another thread that I’ll link if I remember. It’s on the topic of “All lifes matter” being used against “Black Lives Matter”.
Imagine sitting at a table and everyone gets food except Bob. Bob chimes in with “Bob deserves food.” Everyone else at the table responds with “Everyone deserves food” and then continues eating. Of course everyone deserves food, but this doesn’t change the fact that Bob has no food, nor does it help him get any either.
Also:
I thought we already solved this racist crap 40+ years ago!
I want what he’s having. Looks like some wack ass shit, and I need a good trip right now.

          • Admitting you don’t understand is a good first step. Have you since attempted to try?

            • Because there are people who genuinely try to solve problems and then those who exacerbate them for personal gain. That cop who murdered Floyd? Deserves life in prison. The agitators starting riots (not protests...those are needed.) They deserve prison time too.
Sorry, all out of salt.
• If anything it should be “stop police brutality”.

            • Just imagine what we could accomplish if we had the ability to unite as one people and one voice. If we stopped saying this organization/movement is more important than this one or that one. What if we all together stood up for all injustices together. Replace color with we the people. That would require us to set aside our own selfishness and realize everyone can suffer and everyone’s pain is just as important as ones own. Unfortunately we can’t do that. It’s easier to point the finger and blame. To hate is just to easy and to self justified.

            • Genuine sigh. Let me put it this way, there’s a fundraiser to help advance the research of lung cancer being held. Lung cancer is the deadliest form of cancer in the US and is responsible for the most deaths. Naturally you would want to cure that one first because it’s responsible for the most fatalities so for that day, the emphasis is on lung cancer as it’s the most dangerous kind. Now imagine some lunatic coming down and screaming about how breast cancer matters too. It does matter and do do all kinds of cancer, but it’s the least dangerous form of cancer with the lowest mortality rate as opposed to lung cancer which is the most dangerous. People are not putting black lives on a pedestal above all other lives with the slogan BLM, they’re saying black lives matter too because the governing body of the US and the police force have shown - with consistent evidence - that black lives are not treated in the same regard as white lives are. Saying all lives matter is protesting a protest for equality and it demeans and trivialises centuries of harsh treatment that black people suffered that we as white people didn’t suffer. Some would go as far as to say it’s racist to do such a thing. I don’t think it is racist, I think people have misunderstood the meaning of the movement. BLM is not trying to put black lives above all others, they’re trying to put black lives in line with all others because right now they’re not.
