The PC community doesn’t mind cheaters...

I have found out that the PC community tolerates the idea cheating to an alarming degree. (TLDR at end) So recently, I was accused of cheating by WYL, which was hilarious (video here: https://youtu.be/WW9qWLS2v20 ) After which I thought, hey I wonder how I can create some salt in the community while also being helpful. So In an effort to look as suspicious as possible I did the following: -changed steam name to “Perfect aim dont@me” -started flashing my 88 valor win streak emblem -started pretty religiously using one earth and Aachen (green and blue weapons) -had buddies comment on my steam profile saying things like “Xims with wii remote, Xims with GameCube controller” etc etc Then I started hopping in to LFG groups that needed comp help. Now typically, on PC if you see a player displaying what I’m displaying, with a steam name like mine, doing comp help..... it’s hard not to assume cheating.... Which is the point of this little excercise. NOTE: I don’t cheat, I have never considered cheating, nor will I ever consider or condone cheating. I am however a decent controller player that enjoys playing scrims with some of the better PC players, and I’m top 150 in rumble (Xbox) and top 250 on PC, mostly sniping. And in the right lobbies I can very easily land snipes that are suspect to say the least. So here’s the crazy thing that boggles my mind. I CANNOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES I HEARD “Are you cheating bro? I don’t care if you are, I just want to get legend/fabled” Way too often, players were willing to play with me, even if they thought I was cheating. That’s how far the game has devolved on PC. People have gone past the stage of anger/frustration with cheaters and they just accept them as a regular part of the game!!! TLDR: I’m a pretty good player who has done everything in his power to look like an aim botter on PC in order to generate salt from the enemy team. What I found was that MANY players would be willing to play with a cheater, They asked me stuff like “are you cheating? I really don’t care I just want fabled/legend”. Which is insane.

  • I left pc and went back to ps4. No looking back. Ps5 going to be good times. Less cheating. More balanced. Less wanna be elitists.

    • People run around with names like that all the time... it doesn't mean they are cheating. You weren't playing exceptionally either, so there would be no reason to think you were cheating.

      • Isn’t hacking somewhat normal on all PC games? I always thought so. Throw in F2P and you get addt’l players who will cheat/hack because they can, with no loss to them if they’re eventually banned.

        • Its psychology if you do things people correlate with cheaters your gonna get assumed. However since destiny is so infested with cheaters people use the logic of if you cant beat them join them, destiny was never designed to be competitive hence why cheating is taken less seriously compared to a rainbow six seige for example.

              • I mean streamers are literally praying to get a cheater in their lobby so they can upload a video on YouTube for clicks. “I Matched with same cheater 2 times in same card”

                • When I was playing Comp, I played on PS4 despite PC being my prefered platform to A: Eliminate (99% of) cheating, B: My friends were there. If, I had played on PC where cheating is easier, I would have never left a match whether the cheater was on my team or the other simply because of quit penalties. I wouldn't say anything either. I'd just report anything suspicious and let Bungie sort it out. Good players get accused of cheating all the time. It happened to me back in the early days of Counter Strike.

                • When you have a strong weapon capped at 5500 and these players know their place and understand they will never reach that rank, their options are to cheat. These players you speak of are obviously frustrated they cant reach legend but don’t want to risk losing their account so they don’t care if someone else is cheating for them. Whats funny to me is bungie is now going to ban players that que up with hackers so they are just playing themselves in the end. Cheating is not tolerated on pc, players are just fed up with not being able to reach legend. I feel bungie should make a quest like redrix for players that cant reach this rank. The thing is bungie has to make it so these players can obtain these pinnacle rewards after like 2-3 seasons or make it so players need to at least do GM nightfalls as an alternative way to get them

Its so funny that you got called a cheater by WYL. His ego is so huge that he just simply cannot accept losing to better players. Gets sniped once and starts getting suspicious, total clown. Should have stayed on console. But that’s funny that people didn’t mind, honestly they should because bungie literally said they will ban people for playing with cheaters. I’ve done the steam name change thing before too, I’ve tried both ben (cheats on) and ben on the xim4 apex and both got a lot of reaction. Plenty of teammates in quickplay saying they were reporting me especially because I was playing quickplay and top fragging. I quickly would change my name back just because I didn’t want to risk getting banned but still it was funny. I have 7 pages of comments on my profile and they are mostly cheat accusations.

                • Normal cheating behaviour to come on to a social platform to say “I’m not a cheater” do you think that makes you a non-cheater. Lance Armstrong did this as well. “Oh he went on tv and said he wasn’t a cheater, that’s cleared things up”

                • Tolerating is just about all we can do at this point. The platform is overrun and fighting it is futile as long as the game is f2p
