Is Bungie still Blind to why 99% of players don’t play Trials?

Because they cater to the top 1% with the lack of skill based matchmaking. Then they listen to the top 1% complaints on why the rest of players are not playing. It’s f ing hilarious. Below will be the “go play comp “ posts. Which I do because trials matchmaking is so bad. Trials is like going to a bowling league with no skill brackets and wonder why only the top two teams come back the next week Edit update - Maybe this would work better than an upgraded bounty system since we all love bounties........ implement a 3 bracket system along with sbmm with higher rewards at each bracket. That will allow more players to engage while at the same time the higher skilled players get rewarded rightfully so, such as an Adept Summoner or Astral can only be obtained in bracket A (With a black metallic exclusive shader) People never get the feeling and excitement of the game mode to even want to get gud or invest more time with the current set up. With brackets, top skilled and streamers can carry people at their bracket to get rewards that can only be obtained in that bracket. Which will still feed the current need for streamers and all that. while people work their skill up while actually enjoying the game mode and getting gud in lower brackets. Yes good competition can be enjoyable. Win for all. What’s wrong with an A, B and C league, as long as the rewards are tier based? Right now it’s an A league only with occasional people dipping their toes in the water.

  • Lack of SB is not my reason, I'm sure it really isn't for many others. Trials is just the sweathouse, it always is, and in its current state, it gives almost no reason to tolerate it. Low population screws over the matchmaking, making all games a nightmare as opposed to the later 3 that really matter. Trials fundamentally doesn't represent a proper ranked mode, yet is treated like the Apex of Crucible. This is a recipe for disater for anyone that isn't playing at an exceedingly unnecessary 200% all the time, which is most people. Worst part is Destiny's unfitting statute as a competitive game. Skill only comes into play when everyone is equally doing their best to demonstrate the least (ie: Sniper Shotguns are not impressive, but that's all anyone wants because they're the most effective) Any imbalance will result in a stomping match. I looked at my one run I did on launch week, One game out of 9 was an even fight, all results were pretty much determined from the beginning, the exception being the only match to go 5-4. I'm not saying it's rigged, but this seems to be a trend for Destiny, no? How is that acceptable in something so "prestigious" ? Trials doesn't belong in Destiny. I don't care if it did House of Wolves a favor, it did more harm than good. Harm deeper than "something to do" and "getting the game attention". Harm that led to PvP being taken seriously enough to sabotage the entire Crucible, and likely landed us D2's vanilla PvP, the worst one ever.

  • yurpcrusher you make some valid points and i agree that eververse should be removed from this game. But Whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let’s get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta’aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

  • So I have heard arguments on every side and I need to be careful how I put this. I have over 195,000 hard earned final blows in crucible. I have been through it all in Destiny one and two so I am highly qualified to speak. On this topic. I am also the founder of iron horde. So this week and we'll this year every body I play with has noticed some strange things going on in crucible. Well I know what it is for a fact now. Because I caught them in Crucible. I'm not bashing on bungle for one. I still enjoy killing all guardians very much if they are human or Not let . I really cannot say to much because of the code of conduct. But I will say this watch very carefully when you are in pvp. Read between the lines. Do your own research. Not everyone in the crucible is in the family of humans. That's really all I am comfortable saying. I will keep playing regardless of anyone or Any"thing". I will not comprimise. I do not care how good you think you are or how much aim assist you use. Don't tread on me

      • Skill based matchmaking would ruin the achievement of going flawless. And I know that has already been ruined by cheaters and win trading but for those who achieve it legitimately, then it would be less of an achievement. I never went flawless in D1 or Trials of the Nine and improved to the point where I did this time around. That difficulty shouldn’t be diminished and for flawless to be special it must not be obtainable for all. Now what should be for all is respect for time invested in the playlist. Lower skill players not having to show for maybe 100+ games must be terrible and is a bad oversight on Bungie’s end. The bounty should help solve this issue slightly although I still think replay ability for lower skill players isn’t quite there yet. The biggest problem for me is the loot. There is not much worth chasing really and nothing truly special for going flawless, pushing higher skill players to aim for that over token farming. The introduction of adept gear will help this but the loot in general needs to be highly sought and it is only the shotgun and auto that are truly top tier at the moment.

        • If you think that trials MM is completely based on wins you are ignorant Maybe the first one or two games and in the fist weekends but now has something like a sbmm. There is no other explanation why when im at EU most of the times I play against ppl from NA. I don't think that in the entire EU the game CANT find me ppl to play against in my 5-6-7 games. Also the a good player has more chances to play against cheaters in ANY Playlist for obvious reasons. The MM atm in destiny punishing the players with good stats you can't even go and have fun in qp cause the tame Balance is so bad to prevent to good player for stomping bad players. Do your homework b4 to post nonsense.

        •
Is Bungie still Blind to why 99% of players don’t play Trials?
No, as long as streamers are making money they're helping this company make money by giving a free advertisement. So overall, this company doesn't care and it shows how poorly just the season are that added Trials in hopes of keeping players around. It backed fired on them so now they are trying this weak attempt at best to please PvE players by giving them scraps but calling it loot for strikes, etc... that is little next to nothing at all.

Everything you said is true. It goes behind match making though. Aa long as its filled with recovs, the bottom 97% have no chance. Most will try it a few times and then never again. The more cheating and recovs, the smaller the population.

        • I agree. If they don’t fix the matchmaking to skill based. Trials decline will continue. One game we stomps a team 5-0... next match we get stomped 5-0. Imagine the team we stomp going up against the team that stomped us. Why would anyone want to keep playing. It won’t matter if you the bounty system. If they continue with matchmaking based on wins. Same issues will continue. But they won’t because the streamers won’t be able to carry people to the light house or 1v3 for views or run melee only. If you are good enough to get flawless with melees only. You should never go against an average or below player.

        • Trials was brought back for 1 reason. Revenue generation for Streamers. The fact that your tokens are useless unless you get 3 wins and are removed from your inventory upon reset act as reasons for the weaker players to subscribe to streamers with hopes of winning a raffle for a carry or recov. Many Streamers play Trials all weekend long jumping from account to account completing runs for money. Not all but many. The more accounts they can take flawless the more money they make. It’s been over 2 months now and there’s been zero change to the Trials game mode to provide incentive for the average-below average players to take the beating having their time investment then result in receiving activity specific loot. Why hasn’t the Trials game mode had the loot or bounty structures altered? Doing this would take away potential revenue from the Streamers.

          • Trials is a sweatfest and unless I have teammates who are equally sweaty I avoid it like the plague. PvP in general feels too sweaty as is what with all the bs cooldowns and over reliance on 1hk weapons and abilities. I've had enough of the sweat this game has to offer and my old man heart can only take so much. lol Plus it's funnier to watch the "pro players" cannibalize themselves considering the only people playing it right now and making them miserable are themselves and cheaters.

          • The Streamers and Sherpers demanded it so that they could improve their revenue stream with paid carry's and account recoveries. The rest of the of the player base either did did not want it or could care less about it. Now though the the Streamers and Sherpers are whining crying and complaining to Bunghole because no one wants to play this pile of dog sheit which makes it harder for them to make money. I find the whole thing Hilarious

            • I can't speak for anyone else, as you can't either, but the only reason I don't bother is because the loot isn't worth it. If the regular loot were worth it I would play the game mode a lot. If the flawless loot was worth it I would be trying every weekend. As it happens I haven't even played a single card (on my main account) because there is just no incentive. I was never great at trials but I loved playing it in D1, and even managed a handful of flawless runs.

              • Bungie holds your hand in every other playlist with skillbased matchmaking. If you are not good enough to win games in the only competitive mode this game has to offer than this is a YOU problem. Get a team, practice in sbmm elim and stop crying. The only problem Trials has are cheaters and a terrible loot system

                • In Bungie’s defense, they removed Trials of the Nine for a reason, and there was a reason why they were reluctant to bring Trials of Osiris back, despite the continuous pleas from the PVP community that ‘everyone’ wanted Trials of Osiris back. Bungie were ‘forced’ to bring back back Trials ( to accommodate PVP players who grown disenfranchised with Destiny’s lack of PVP focus ) even though they felt like the game mode was obsolete, and no longer worked for PVP gamers in post PUBG and Fortnite world. Trials of Osiris has always been a game mode designed for the most elite, it was designed that way from the scratch. It’s never, ever had mass appeal, or accessibility for the vast majority of the playerbase.
