Hello,
as you may all know in D2 there is a certain setting to change your mouse sensitivity (1-10), however, this "scale" is deeply flawed. It functions as a multiplier, but in an unnecessarily sophisticated manner.
Example: Setting "3" represents a multiplier of 0.899999, which is then used in this equation: [Mouse DPI] times [sensitivity setting] = eDPI
In order to achieve a multiplier of 1.0 you'd need to change the setting to: 2.66665526 BUT D2 DOES NOT PROVIDE SUCH OPTION. As it happens, I needed to do exactly that...
My mouse: Rival 300 - can ONLY change DPI levels on 50 unit bases
example: 750DPI then jumps to 800DPI then jumps to 850DPI and so forth.
Something about me; I train my muscle memory on 800 eDPI only, doesn't matter what game. I can spend up to literal hours trying to achieve that 800 and when nothing works I forbid myself from playing that game, because I value my skills and my years of effort perfecting them more than some game. This is one of the reasons why D2 will never succeed on an Esport level - it does not provide players with sufficient gameplay settings.
How did I get banned? I tried to forcefully edit the Sensitivity Setting in the game files using a 3rd party software, and from my understanding, no such software is bannable, as there are hundreds of programms manipulating game data in someway which does not affect other players' experience.
DISCLAIMER: I did not actually proceed to edit any files/values. I only scanned the directory a couple times, but failed to change anything, because I was preoccupied with other stuff at the moment and the game kept turning itself off when I came back to it. Doesn't matter for what reason it kept doing so - I have no clue as well.
Who should be punished? Easy answer! The designer, perhaps some lead developer, who made the choice for players to be bound by his irrational and inadequate programming, or perhaps his lack of knowledge. This is not a small problem. Aiming is what you dedicate one of your entire arms to!
If you're a person, in the position of power, in the development department for D2 I expect you to take action.
If you're a person, in the position of relative power, in the community management department for D2 I expect you to take action in resolving my mistreatment.

The people on this thread are ignorant to what you're saying. I understand what you were doing and why you were trying to do it. Sens in Destiny is a very point-blank 1-10 sensitivity and doesn't actually reflect those values. Waiting for the day they tweak their sense system and add decimals.
How did I get banned? Good job Bungie 👏👏👏👏👏
I tried to forcefully edit the Sensitivity Setting in the game files using a 3rd party software
Doesn't matter if you were successful or not - the attempt was made to alter the game files and that alone warranted the ban. Now you can try to appeal the ban, but given not only your own admission of attempting to alter the game files as well as Bungie's own internal data on this incident - I seriously doubt your ban will be repealed.

You tried to forceably alter the program in a way that gave you an advantage over other players. In short, you were cheating....and you got caught at it. ....and the excuse you are trying to make in order to justify that cheating don't really matter. ITS CHEATING. Enjoy your ban.

So you used software to change Bungie's property without their permission (which unless you work for them they would not give anyway). Did you read the terms and conditions or Eula when you first started playing Destiny. Use this as a warning... DO NOT mess around with a companie's online property. If you want to complain about it use the ban appeal form found on Bungie.net.
-
So you openly are admitting to cheating but are wondering why you got banned? Seems pretty obvious
-
Sounds like a legit ban to me...
-
You used software to edit game files..... Ban is justified! Stop crying.
-
You sound like an entitled PC elitist. DEAL WITH THE CLOSE ENOUGH SETTING. THIS IS NOT HARD. And if you paid attention, you would know that if you run software in the background that even so much as ACCESSES the D2 files, you will get a ban immediately. This is to prevent cheating.

I feel like you take this a bit too seriously. Destiny is not enjoyable if you take it super seriously. I really don’t understand the effort you go to just to meet certain parameters. But if that’s the way you want to play and that’s how you have fun then keep doing that. I just think that it’s silly to not play a game you might (big might for this game) enjoy, because you couldn’t create your ideal environment.

Looks like Bungie caught you trippin through their stuff!

Lol. Just use a different setting. This is a PvE game, you don't need flawless precision!
