I am not gonna cry with a 2k word essay about how bad matchmaking is in this game, just wanna point out that i almost completely stopped playing since sunsetting was announced for certain.
When i come back for a "quick" pvp match, i sit in orbit for literally 10 minutes to get a match of 10 minutes, the same again after that. (doesn't matter if i queue for classic mix or control btw)
This is caused by the most strict sbmm any shooter has ever seen. The game needs automatically adjusted sbmm that considers the player activity to avoid obnoxious queue times for "better" players during content droughts.
Or even better, just add the option even halo reach had back then, to turn sbmm on or off.
You will definitely not gain former hardcore players back with this trash sbmm. Pvp used to be my save space when content droughts happened, now i'm just over it all the way.

QP doesn't have SBMM...
-
Yeah this game really sucks

3 RepliesThat is not SBMM though.

Edited by SSK0T: 6/1/2020 1:45:16 PMThe issue is just player population. I ran the numbers one day last week using Warmind.io and Steam and found that there were about 2,000 people at that time total on XBox in quick play in the whole world. Xbox was around 17% or 18% of total population, about 10% of Xbox players were in QP. That, along with real time Steam numbers meant there were 2,000 total. Now out of 2,000 many are in matches, many others aren't in the QP subcategory I'm trying to play. Probably something like 10% or 20% might be queuing in Control right when I'm trying to start. Even if it was 30 or 40% you can see the issue. There just isn't a way to have good matches if there are 200 or 400 people in world queuing when I'm queuing. If you are on PC, then instead of 2,000 the number at that time was about 5,400 in QP. Same problem, just not enough people playing

Qp is a sweat fest with laggy lobbys and broken MM with unbalance teams. I'm having games with 30-40+ kills and 10 captures with 3-4kd and I'm still loosing when I'm solo. I literally go have to stack a team to have fun
-
Edited by ~NaVy_$eAl~187: 6/1/2020 3:34:09 AMPVP is a lagfest right now, played 6 matches every one has been laggy. The second most frustrating thing for me is I get to 11/12 then 12/12 then drops and goes back up for at least a couple minutes straight.

Edited by Not Meesh: 6/1/2020 3:12:35 AMIn my experience PvP operates with team-balancing, not necessarily SBMM. While connections are spotty from time to time, that is more a product of low player population, not SBMM. Not disagreeing with the sentiment of your post, just pointing out what I've experienced.

Small concurrent player numbers, way too many playlists, way too strict sbmm and win/loss manipulation, this company has absolutely no clue. Lost all faith in them.

2 RepliesDude mayhem playlist is up all the noobs are in there. I played a couple of mayhem but couldn’t handle it literally noobs love to sit back and wait for their supers it’s actually funny and sad.

12 RepliesClassic Mix dosent have Skill Based Matchmaking, it has CBMM. The issue is that 1) Low Playerbase, less players to play from, eventually ending up with games with garbage connections 2) Rigged Team Balancing. If the game thinks you're good, it thinks of you as 2 players, so it gives you garbage cans for teammates.
-
Queue times are terrible due to it struggling to find players for that activity
-
2 RepliesEdited by RussellMania: 5/31/2020 3:42:21 PMAt this point, I play exclusively Classic Mix, and I’ll literally leave a match 30 secs in if I can tell it’s gonna be a sweatfest or a stomp. Really sucks that Crucible is my favorite game mode, and I actively avoid 90% of it like the plague. Bungie has messed up big time with SBMM and won’t realize it until it’s too late. SBMM does NOT benefit your game long-term... It causes it to slowly rot from within.

I agree with you that Crucible has a lot of flaws but some creatures of the Hive strain against the Will of Oryx. Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, is one such. Long ago he fomented rebellion against the King and attempted to take his mantle. Alak-Hul failed, and now awaits the “mercy” of the Hive. Given the chance, the Darkblade will step in to take Oryx's crown. We must not allow another Prince to rise.
-
Yeah it’s single-handedly pushing me away from the game... just like any other pvp game that adds sbmm.
-
I used to get frustrated but now I like playing the unbrokens or trials players. It helps me become better. I can relate to how the average player feels. Every match is sweaty af MLG tournament. I don't like playing sweaty 24/7, crucible should be balanced by having equal skills on both sides not just one team getting steam rolled. Lol.
-
You can turn it off, it is called the Classic Mix playlist. Jam-packed with Flawless and Unbroken players so bring your A-game and prepare to sweat 👍
-
Edited by PapaSubpar: 5/31/2020 11:49:30 AMYeah, it is silly...what were they even thinking? There is no way that they will EVER find a lobby good enough to match up against a 1.28 player. Those queues must last for literally 1000 years! If they did, could you just imagine how sweaty those matches would be? It must be crazy!

2 RepliesHey smart guy, classic mix is cbmm
-
2 RepliesEdited by Strider: 5/30/2020 4:37:06 PMIf you play "Classic Mix" it doesn't have SBMM and the lack of PvP players all round is what makes queing times longer. Too many play lists as well.
-
No it doesn't.
-
Don't play crucible. Problem solved.
-
I am so tired of saying this. I some times wait 7 to 8 mins to get into a match only for that match to end in 4 mins due to mercy.
