Have i lost all my items on my two alternate characters, due to the hard reset?
I went to transfer my items from my second character, and started back at the first mission of D2, with all common gear. Will i get my other gear back once i have completed the original missions?

Your other two characters have little to no game time in Destiny 2, so they wouldn't have anything but common gear and they'll need to complete the first mission as any new character does. If these characters were migrated from Destiny 1, they don't keep anything from that game. The import is only for a character's appearance. By the way, one of these characters is a second Warlock. In case you're unaware, multiple characters of the same class in Destiny 2 cannot get powerful/pinnacle rewards like they could in Destiny 1.
