As per the last weekly update from Bungie - Precision slug shotguns are getting a PVE buff of 30%
The Chaperone : I tested in the tribute hall. While numbers will vary depending on light level I tested mine at the tribute hall on Greg the Ogre 2.0 with Chaperone LL 983 (pulled from collections).
Light Level is inconsequential as it scales and multipliers will remain the same regardless.
Base shotgun ammo is 17. With 1 reserve is 19 and 2 reserves = 20.
Roadborn perk: Increases precision damage, range and handling after a kill by approximately 22.5 to 23% and lasts for 10 seconds. Hidden perk: reload speed is increased after a kill.
Base damage against ogre is 15 206.
Damage with Roadborn active is 18 642.
If we multiply both by 30%:
Season 11 base damage: 19 767
Season 11 damage with Roadborn perk active: 24 243
----------------------------------------------
Next part is season 11 damage values and are estimations:
Total damage without Roadborn perk active with 2 shotgun reserves: 395 340 total damage
Total damage with Roadborn perk active with 2 shotgun reserves: 484 860 total damage

MAJOR FACTOR IS HUMAN ERROR
*** DPS Could be average to very good with reload perks or hunter dodge to completely reload ***
- Will take approx 30 seconds to empty all ammo without reload perks, barricade, etc
- Enhanced shotgun loader shaves approx 4-5~ seconds in total.
- Ophidian Aspects shave about 6~ seconds total.
- Reload only tested on warlock which is not optimal at all *SIGH*
Keep in mind that total damage with Roadborn is perfect scenario and would require reload cancels like hunter dodge. Shotgun only holds 6 thus having to reload 4 times within the 10 second of Roadborn or wasting 3 shots and reload on minors to re-proc Roadborn. In any case the damage numbers are quite significant.
Keep in mind that we have yet to see a catalyst for this weapon and it might be a game changer or it might be a simple stat increase. Seeing as they are buffing precision slug shotguns I would wager that the catalyst for this weapon (which is already in the API) will be out next season.
CATALYST SCENARIO 1:
Back-up mag bringing total to 9 and stability +30.
CATALYST SCENARIO 2:
The Roadborn gets extended on precision hits and deeper ammo reserves.
CATALYST SCENARIO 3:
Some form of Rapid Hit?
CATALYST SCENARIO 4:
Roadborn damage increased to 35% and timer extended to 12 seconds [wishful thinking]
--------------------------
Just basic numbers for you all. If someone wants to go more in depth and get DPS values - do so by all means. I did not bother with that as there are much better options for short burst DPS and what interested me most were the changes to simple damage values upcoming. These changes apply to other precision slug shotguns like Blasphemer from the Moon and is a legendary that can roll with swashbuckler. Keep in mind that Blasphemer has base impact of 70 (and RPM of 65 w/out assault mag) and that Chaperone has 75 base impact (and 70 RPM). Range on Chaperone is 100 vs 62 for Blasphemer at base. Differences are quite significant but take up an exotic slot.
For a comparison with a different archetype - Rapid-Fire frame Shotgun - Prefect Paradox.
Fires 12 pellets for 722 damage (Same light Level 983)
1 Shot damage = 8664 or crit 9524
1 shot damage w/Trench Barrel = 12 996 or crit 14 283
Total base damage with mine holds 28 shots with 2 reserves = 242 592
Optimal - Or all crits : 266 672
Total base damage proccing trench barrel every 3 hits = 363 888
Optimal - Or all crits : 399 942
Keep in mind that DPS here should theoretically be better as mag is emptied faster and reload is much faster as well - Double the rate of fire 140 vs 70 thus double the DPS. But for comparison's sake the Chaperone at base damage will do the same total damage to a boss as a trench barrel rapid fire frame shotguns and surpasses it by a lot when Roadborn active.
Cheers~
