Hi All
Really hope this topic doesn't blow open a lid so high, I end up facing the Darkness early, but each place I go, no matter what topic there is, there is ALWAYS someone commenting about this guy.
I only have known very little about him, as from what twitter tells me and with what I heard about him, as I never experienced "D1" in any shape or form (Yes, I'm a D2- Boomer) and only got into D2 about a year ago. So anything "End-game" such as Raids, I never touched (cuz I suck D:).
But for the folks who have been there from Day 1 (as in D1 all the way to now, and if you are still alive). Can anyone tell me info of what happened and make sure it's civil here, as I just want to know what the fuss is about in a viewpoint that is not the following: "He took my gun away" or "Don't nerf the Hardlight"
Kind Regards
Psi

Well, from what I know, he’s pretty much the highest authority of Destiny’s development team. Right now I’d say the reason everyone hates him is because weapon sunsetting is his idea based on his “state of the game” blog post from earlier this year.

Destinys game director... Who must have some kind of blackmail on his superiors because regardless of how many times his ideas hurt the franchise, he keeps his position within the company. He has been given credit for 2 high points in the first game, the Vault of Glass raid and The Taken King expansion, which he was apart of but truthfully Chris Barrett was coaching him through both of those things. Realistically, hes been in charge of the most terrible things that have come to Destiny ( undeniably, Vanilla D2)... the things people did like were created by other studios under Activisions control, like Forsaken. He has a journalism background but seems to write himself in circles of contradictions that I think he and his company think are worded strategically enough that their dumba** customers wont catch on. You can probably tell that I dont care for his presence in Destiny, but I'm sure the Scarab Lord is a real nice guy outside of work. :)

Edited by Swiftlock: 5/25/2020 8:28:38 PMHe is the current lead. Many people find the guy arrogant, abrasive and out of touch with the community. His attempts to communicate with the fanbase appear patronizing rather than constructive. The hubris of it all makes him out to be an undesirable figurehead for Bungie. It's likely that he's responsible for many of the changes to D2 that players dislike. Not all of them, but as the lead, he certainly had his share of influence. Nobody is perfect, and the vocal minority will always be louder than the majority, but looking at the state D2 is in right now, you can't argue that there hasn't been issues with the leadership.

He's extremely tone deaf to everything the community is asking for, that's the main reason.
-
The better question is how tf did he get a lead role at Bungie?
-
he is an idiot

A World of Warcraft fanboy who is in charge of the Destiny franchise at Bungie.

Simple, play any D2 raid. If you find yourself wondering who thought of all this multitasking nonsensical overcomplicated mechanics, you have found the why. To your other question, think of someone who have said the next jewels: - "If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen." - "I think that the Ghost is a really great metaphor for Destiny in this way where, I don't know that we, as Bungie, understood the type of game that Destiny could be." - “In Destiny 2, with infusion, it’s like having every card you own in Magic available and playable in all formats forever. That isn’t value. It’s actually the opposite of value, because it’s work that we could be putting into making new stuff, or improving old stuff.” And imagine and embodiment of someone, a man that 15nor so years ago did something in the most popular mmo at that time and nowadays still smells his own farts cause of what he seems as some sort of live achievement goal. A man who thinks of Destiny, proven by the quotes right up, as a that kid that quits playing with the other kids and take the ball home cause things are not going the way he want em and therefore he does the old "-blam!- you guys, im going home". Now you have found the who.

1 ReplyIf you've seen the movie Grandmas Boy, he is like the guy riding around on his Segway shouting "I'm a genius" and taking credit for everyone else's hard work

The person that ruined Destiny 2

He’s the game director.
