1 ReplyWord of advice to ANYONE looking into Destiny Leaks, and “leaks” in general. Know the leaker. With destiny there should only be 5 sources of stuff to come otherwise known as “leaks” Obviously official Bungie reveals. This isn’t necessarily a “leak” but more of an actual release but I’m including it here because it needs to be. Another one could be Jason Schrier or journalists who has a very good track record of having in the know information within the games industry. Known dataminers. The two that spring to mind are JPDeathBlade and Ginsor who have revealed a lot of stuff in Season of the Worthy (and many other seasons prior). These are technically leaks, but usually will be seen in a few weeks (so within the season they were leaked). Known leakers. When people hear of AnontheNine, they instantly think of “the guy who leaked a lot of Destiny 2: Forsaken content. I don’t think any other “leakers” are as credible as Anon, but even with Anon, take what everyone classed a “leaker” with a grain of salt. Stuff is always subject to change in development and easy to discredit. Discrediting “leaks” is easy as well. Look at the leaker. Usually they’re “anonymous” so we won’t know if they’ve got a track history, but likely they do. Secondly; if they say “I’m working at Bungie” or “I have a guy close to the development process of <insert expansion name here>” they are very much a fake. If they claim to be working at Bungie or know someone there, they’re in breach of NDA’s (Non-Disclosure Agreements). These basically mean “you are legally obliged to not reveal anything to the public until the company is ready for a reveal” and by breaching the contract are eligible to be caught up legally. Now. That’s not to say that anything “leaked” without a source of such is automatically right and everything they say will be true. This is where we examine the content of the “leak”. Two ways of doing this. Story content (the plot and its ties to the lore, and the characters involved) and included content (weapons, strikes etc). For the included content section, examine the weapons. If they make bold claims like “GALLY IS COMING BACK” in an expansion about the “Veil” (also really hate this name) then chances are that it’s fake. Same applies to strikes. If they say “oh you’re getting five new strikes” don’t hold it in high regard. The most amount of strikes we’ll get with a new expansion is 3, such as Forsaken (yes I know it had 4 through the PS exclusive, but that was due to contract which has obviously stopped). Story content is arguably the best way to discredit a leak. Let’s give an example. Recently somebody claimed the next expansion would be “Crypt of Terrors”. It would focus around the deep stone crypt, an army of Exo’s and Frames and take place on Enceladus (if I’m remembering correctly). We know for a fact that the next expansion is going to take place regarding one of two characters depending on how this next season goes; either Savathun or the more likely Pyramid invasion. Crypt of Terrors makes no sense from a story standpoint to do this. Another example is the suggestion of characters. Destiny 2: Collapse suggests we see Calus, Eris and Mara as the main characters. But Destiny 2: Salvation (this was a “leak” that got posted and then deleted about an hour later) suggested it would be Drifter. Whilst both of these leaks make sense for the content of the story, not much was revealed about their roles, so we cannot be certain of how accurate they are. I say this because think of Cayde. His death was leaked Prior to D2’s release when a voice line from Lakshmi-2 said about his death. Obviously we never heard it in game because Faction Rally was stopped. Also look to the lore of the recent years. Lore tabs that spring to mind as to what may be relevant are “sleepless”, “solar sailor”, the Telesto ornaments, the “What Gives me Pause” pre-release and the Trials and Tribulations lore book, as well as the pyramid lore from this season (so leaker wannabes, take notes). Discredit anything that suggests the “main antagonist” is going to be the Winnower. The Winnower is a cosmic force version of the Darkness. Not a being like us. This also applies to names like “The Formless One” or “The Darkness itself”. As for this “leak” in OP’s original post. Don’t believe it. “Dark Omens” is a name of a piece of the Shadowkeep soundtrack if I’m not mistaken; and it’s basically echoing most of the stuff “Collapse” and “Salvation” said. But yeah. Tangent over.
