22 RepliesIt sucks, don’t ever use it. Everyone who tells you it’s good is lying. I personally think no one should ever use it and If someone DOES do well with it, they’re probably hacking. It’s a trash shotgun. Has no range whatsoever

I think it needs an icarus grip mod or something.

I ran into a spectral blades hunter once that was hitting slideshots with it so often he was basically perma invis...with wall hacks...the whole game. That guy singlehandledly destroyed our whole team at will. Dude was insane. If I was that good I’d never log off...

Best shotgun in the game. I am a demon with that thing on my main.

8 RepliesDepends...do you enjoy inconsistency?

What are your opinions on the Chaperone?
Antaeus, chappy and nf= a lot of tbagging angry little hunters 😎
-
1 ReplyI bet it’s the shotgun of choice for hackers who want to conceal that they are hacking. Who’s going to complain when they get headshot by the Chaperone? They’ll chalk it up to skill rather than any hacks
-
1 ReplyIt was my favourite pvp gun in D1, I'm trash with it in D2
-
1 ReplyIts the only shotgun in the game that I feel deserves the kill rather than feeling cheated by an ape. It goes something along the lines of "goddammit another shotgu- oh its a chaperone"
-
3 RepliesChaperone? Shit no. The other slugs with slideshot/opening shot and outlaw/quickdraw? Shit yes.
What are your opinions on the Chaperone?
I haven’t played since the solar changes, but back then it was amazing. I also got a heretic with a good roll from the moon that was good up till 11/12 meters for a head shot kill.
-
Oh yeah it is. Got to Legend in comp using it. So good. I'm super stoked for the slug PvE buff now.
-
It’s only as good as the person using it
-
It’s the only slug shotty I use. If you’re good with aim, you’ll enjoy it a lot

6 RepliesEdited by Shamrock-74: 5/22/2020 1:05:46 AMNot as good as my Good Bone Structure. (I have 3,500 Crucible kills with that bad boy)

Favorite shotty to use on my titan along with nf
-
Favorite shotty Hands down
-
I will say it has one of the better reload sound effects in the game.
-
Huge range, lots of perks for rewarding prescision, but requires headshots, which are waaaaay harder to get than all of the salty titans will tell you. Massively rewards skill and isn’t for the faint of heart, and I think that balances it’s range
-
Chaperone needs to be featured in one of those satisfying videos.
-
Shut up! They'll nerf it!

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 5/22/2020 3:01:06 PMIt's really good if your aim is good and have the playstyle for slug shotguns. Terrible if you don't. Chap ohk headshots to around 13,5 meters without roadborn. Non-slug shottie consistent ohk range is around 7 - 7,5 meters now or 8 meters on the max range aggressive frame rolls. So chap has almost double the range, which does give it a nice window to play in when you play it right with positioning and predicting opponents. But in general slugs are harder to use compared to non-slugs and take practise. If you just want to ape into a room without forethought and only react to opponents instead, non-slugs will probably serve you better. This is also pc / mnkb, no idea how viable it's on controllers. I'd imagine it's harder to use since fast precision is worse on sticks.

its a strong gun that rewards you for practicing with it but its not nearly as difficult to use as people will have you believe.

Edited by Sam: 5/22/2020 2:26:52 PMEach to their own, but I can't get on with it. Used it for a bit on iron banner and guardians a good 30-40 light levels below me were taking Chaperone headshots is if it were nothing. There are better exotics to use.
