Forsaken/Y2:
-9 new subclasses
-Weapons with random perks that were generally powerful
-3 raids
-Exotics felt a lot more powerful
-Speed running was more viable
-We were much more powerful in general
-A lot more content in the season pass
-Zero Hour
-Shattered Throne was the biggest dungeon in Destiny history
-Titles/Seals were more challenging to complete
-Powerful pinnacle weapons
-Eververse was more balanced and Bright Dust was easier to obtain
Shadowkeep/Y3
-No new subclasses
-Weapons with random perks that were weaker and more nerfs than ever before
-1 raid
-Exotics have been nerfed to the ground
-Worldline nerf + general nerfs made speed running much less viable
-We have been nerfed to the ground
-Far less content in the season pass (not to mention lackluster content at that)
-No new “Whisper”/“Zero Hour” type dungeon
-Pit of Heresy not nearly as robust as Shattered Throne
-No pinnacle weapons. Replaced by lackluster “ritual” weapons
-Eververse seems to be the only thing in Destiny the devs seem to invest in and Bright Dust is a lot more difficult to obtain
Shall I add more to the list?
If you think Bungie will deliver gear that is just as powerful as Recluse after sunsetting, you are mistaken. Just look at the track record of viciously nerfing everything about us since the Forsaken days. Look at the lame Seraph Weapon perk combinations that no one cares about. Look at the weak “ritual” weapons we’ve received. Look at the ALL of the nerfs we’ve had from abilities, exotics, orbs of light, etc.
Yes, we were more powerful in the Forsaken days. The general player base was happy with that. No one but Datto was complaining that the game was “too easy.” In the name of power creep and making the game more “challenging,” the game has largely lost the space magic fantasy it used to have. Let me tell you something.... this game will NEVER BE TOO DIFFICULT. At least let us have fun while playing the game. Passive play and getting one-hit killed by trash ads is NOT FUN!
I don’t know why they ever changed the Forsaken platform of wanting us to feel more powerful while playing the game. Let us play the game how we want to play the game.

Black Armory was the best time to grind for actually powerful weapons and rolls, and not your totally crap and boring Seraph Weapons.
-
We need Bungie to listen to the fan base and not sunset every single weapon and armor piece we've ever earned to date. That's ridiculous. You get variety in weapons people use by default. Everyone is different, and will use different weapons based on the way they like to play. If yoy want people to use less of the POWERFUL weapons like recluse and mountaintop, create new weapons that compete with them that have good perks and feel good. Take Felwinters Lie for example. It will be a good competitor for mindbenders when it finally comes out. There is no gun like recluse, and there is not gun like mountaintop. Make new weapons actually interesting and useful; people will use them.

Luke Smith is the problem

Forsaken had great content, great activities, great weapons and they gave you more of everything. And buffs! Random rolls on excellent weapons!!!!More super, more speed, more grenades and more class ability. The go fast philosophy of feeling powerful and enjoying your time. The very best Destiny 2 has had to offer. I loved it. Shadowsleep has bad content, bad activities, bad weapons and they continue to take things away or make them unusable and give you less. The year of taking things away. Taking away your super, your grenades, your class ability, exotics being locked, everything being bugged, shutting the game down for hotfixes that break the game and shut it down, quests that you can’t finish and yes the announcement of taking your best gear away in several activities in the game. Taking your armor away twice! Nerfing everything and the go slow philosophy. But in all fairness they really gave bounties out at every corner and longer loading times so they gave some there. It’s absurd.

1 ReplyEdited by Daylight Begins: 5/19/2020 9:39:16 PMThe game could be too easy. However, the answer is not to nerf us, but rather to make interesting and challenging enemies. That's my 2 cents

9 RepliesNot so hard to figure out. The best parts of Destiny 2 left with Activision.
-
1 ReplyBecause Vicarious Visions did most of it?
-
1 ReplyForsaken was lead by Christopher Barrett a person who understand destiny and it’s community. Shadowkeep is lead by Luke Smith, a person who is pure trash at his job.
-
9 RepliesForgot to add that we had about 8-10 campaign missions for Forsaken and 3 for Shadowkeep. We also had about 4-5 new strikes for Forsaken and only 2 strikes for Shadowkeep.

3 Replies9 new ubclass nodes. We already had the subclasses they belong to. Gunslinger is a subclass. Way of a thousand cuts is a subclass node.

The Amount of Content in Forsaken was good but personally I was not so much a fan of Forsaken. Dreaming City, Ascendend stuff, missions like zero hour never "caught" me.Taken king and beginning story of vanilla destiny f.e. was way better.

I don't know what to say at this point.. It's all clear as day that the game is going downhill and both sides want it to be a better version.. We can't blame Bungie entirely for doing this, it's the playerbase accepting it. I mean let's get 1 thing clear: We are paying the same amount of money for less content each season.. That is just accepting mediocrity, Bungie will keep selling what they can sell,, they are a company looking for profit. The reason they are not listening to us is because we don't speak their language: MONEY

7 RepliesI remember black armory and drifter being universally panned at the time... though I didn’t play drifter until summer because of cancer treatments. I heard how bad reckoning was because power creep was so bad they literally designed it around challenging broken supers. Forges were too hard to begin with and had to be nerfed, niobe labs was broken. Recluse and mountaintop broke everything else and had to be nerfed. Pretty sure menagerie saved summer from being panned as well. I will give forsaken this... it added tangled shore and dreaming city which were two totally new explorable areas. The rework of the moon for Shadowkeep was really cool and nostalgic but the dreaming city is really dope. People have selective memories.

6 RepliesEdited by Babajeeds: 5/20/2020 12:47:41 AMHella biased. You're comparing year 2 and 3 by listing the positives of Y2 and the negatives of Y3. It really isn't fair to do so considering everything. Now I agree, Year 2 of D2 was loads of fun, that doesn't mean we should just dump on year 3; it was still better than year 1. And though I don't play as often as I used to, I still have loads of fun when I do.
-
11 RepliesThe bias so real you only listed the cons of y3 lmao We got a dungeon Pinnacle weapon (Randy’s) still being used today Unique weapon and armor mods Unique exotics still being used Exotic auto rifles are the best weapons in game right now More builds (way more then forsaken) Better seasons The bastion was a secret quest line ( which is an awesome weapon) Trials ( yeah it may suck for some people but it’s back so it can get better) Plus this year isn’t even over yet so hard to compare a complete year to an unfinish one
Shattered Throne was the biggest dungeon in Destiny history
When it came out it was the only dungeon in Destiny history.

I think my post adds a bit onto the issue of then vs now. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/256068243

2 RepliesPeople on the forums still complained constantly during year 2. I agree that year 2 was better, just saying people here will always complain

15 Replies1. Bungie lost 1/3 of their workforce last year, when they split with Activision. 2. Forsaken was a soft reboot of the weapons system (random rolls and special weapons coming back) and that fueled a lot of that sense of power compared to dual primaries. 3. Forsaken over corrected for the sense of power drain, and threw the game into runaway power creep. Power creep that Bungie had to nerf half the game to get back under control. This setting the stage for the blandness of this year. In fact your post is a very eloquent argument for why this system is BROKEN, and why weapon/ power retirement is essential. Because without it this game will lurch between the power creep of Forsaken and the power drain of Shadowkeep with no middle ground in between.
-
1 ReplyTo be fair, the nerds to your “power fantasy” was necessary for the long term health of the game. You may disagree but it became stagnant to me when the only strategy was using rally barricade/Luna faction and dumping grenade launchers into a boss. Let me not even start with how bad PvP was.

Well said 👍

1 ReplyYou put Shattered Throne under Year 2 but didn’t put Pit of Heresy under Year 3. Sounds like cherry picking to me.
-
We got 9 new subclasses in forsaken?
-
Because they left Action Vision. That is the problem!! They promise so much and how this was going the best thing now that they are going solo. Action Vision took their employees with them. Now since Shadowkeep it has been a slow decline with every season worst than the other. I’m sure shadowkeep was worked on by Action Vision before they separated. I love destiny and I have been playing since beta D1, however I’m not sure if I will buy the season pass for Year 4. I may just purchase them a season at a time.

Plus the Dreaming City was beautiful
