Title.
I don't play stupid World of WarCraft due to many reasons (the game got systematically noobified and destroyed throughout the expansions), but one of those reasons is, that I am sick and tired of having to completely change my gear with every expansion with zero item permanence.
One of the things I like the most about Destiny 2 (aside from the game being a solid, modern shooter) is precisely the item permanence, the ability to upscale the gear I like with Upgrade Modules.
If you destroy that for me, I quit. Period.

7 RepliesThey already did. I'll see you in other, better looter shooters like Warframe or hell Anthem is better than Destiny now.
-
I honestly just went back to D1. Way better game than D2 will ever be.
-
They did this shit back in D1 and people hated it. They didn’t and still don’t give a -blam!- whether or not players liked it or not. Once they get a dumb-blam!- idea they don’t look back.

3 RepliesFew replies. @lCertifiedl
I still don't see how sun setting weapons will change anything.
What it does is, that it invalidates my progress. Why did I bother to farm all those weapons and their respective catalysts, if they are gonna "sunset" them?! Again, one of the appealing parts of this game for me is the item permanence. You take that away and what is left?
...As soon as the bring a new powerful weapon in everyone uses it...
If they wanna bring more variety when it comes to the weapons, they should re-balance the weapons, not "sunset" them. What they should do is, that they should nerf what's too powerful... but just enough, so that it's in line with other weapons, instead of nerfing things to the point, that they are no longer usable Blizzard style... and then add some more, different weapons, so that there's variety. I really don't get why the idea, that more viable weapons equals more variety is that hard to comprehend. ___________________________ @Arizath
Who are you again?
What a disgusting question... basically suggesting, that if I am not some known personality or a content creator, I don't have the right to criticize design decisions, or what I say does not matter. But to answer your question, I've been gaming since 1999. When I see nonsense, I don't stay silent. I have Forsaken, but I wont buy Shadowkeep or other expansions, if Bungie proceeds with this nonsense. __________ @Crystilonus
Then quit.
If Bungie goes though with this BS, that's exactly what I'll do.
You’re one person, and in a minority group of players 🤣🤣🤣
Disgusting and disingenuous statement, suggesting that I am a part of a "vocal minority" and everybody else is completely fine with Bungie's decision. Only it's not true, as the reaction to this decision is overwhelmingly negative. ___________ @sonjalovestyson
It's simple logic. The forums are full of complainers. But they are a small percentage of actual players. Very few come to the forums with positivity. The majority that play do so because they enjoy the game, it's fun for them. A majority play and enjoy.
No. This is not "simple logic". You are basically suggesting, that the overwhelmingly negative reaction online in no way represents how the majority of the players feel about change. This is a logical fallacy and nonsense. By following that logic, no statistical pool would adequately predict an outcome, because not everyone was pooled, but rather a small section... If what you're saying was true, statistics as a discipline would not exist! Also, I know what you're saying is nonsense, because I've been gaming for 21 years. I've seen people blindly defend bad design decisions throughout the years with the same rhetorics you're using. What usually ends up happening is, that if the devs double down on the bad design, the vast majority moves on to other games and you end up with a dead game... either with few sycophantic addicts remaining (which I wouldn't even describe as the core, diehard players), or the game literally shuts down. So, contrary to what you may be thinking, if you're supporting this bad design, you're not doing Bungie any favors in the long run.

9 RepliesSo why do you want to keep using the same weapons you've been using for years? Do you actually think that's fun?
-
Good luck finding something you enjoy more. Best wishes.

1 ReplyIt will come. You can rage. You can struggle. But it will happen. Might as well relax ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) The big question left is how hard will it actually change everything. Will our capped gear be the equivalent of a pea shooter against more recent enemies? Or will it almost negligible? Will we have a lot of actually interesting new stuff to pursue or will we end up forced into a handful weapons? Nobody takes "if X happens then I quit" serious anyway, might as well decide for yourself when it actually happens.

1 ReplyI still don't see how sun setting weapons will change anything. As soon as the bring a new powerful weapon in everyone uses it, it's a fundamental loot game design, the only difference is you can use it at end game for a year instead of however long you want. People say power creep is the issue, there ain't no power creep in destiny, nothing currently is that OP.

There is already an expiration date on the game so why not just stop playing now.
-
-
The whole point of this game was....grind to max light level-enjoy playing all the content at max level for a while, maybe max our other 2 characters while we wait on the next quality dlc and new raid. What is it now?? Not that, that’s for sure. Grind just to grind, by the tome you max out, season over, 6 months later all gear useless
-
So quit already. They said it's going to happen. Be brave
-
I am afraid there are less and less veterans players in that game.
-
5 RepliesWho are you again?
-
Same.
-
24 RepliesThen quit. Bye. You’re one person, and in a minority group of players 🤣🤣🤣

3 Repliesokay so I guess you hate Destiny 1 then. Same exact thing happened there its gonna happen at one point! So just stop crying. The game is literally pure and utter garbage if you use the same loadout for the whole entire game, Destiny is revolved around finding gear using the gear and getting better gear. Bungie cannot keep making better and better gear.
