Dredgen Yor also killed many guardians with Thorn, and his corruption lived on through Shin Malphur after killing him, Shin Malphur went on to be Dredgen Veil, and even started the followers of yor, with a replica of thorn that just didnt kill guardians. The Great Disaster on the moon, Crota killed thousands of Guardians, including Wei Ning, who was believed to be the strongest titan until she was slain by crota himself. Even in the lore of how the red legion came to be, its very dark. Ghaul was an outcast, a nobody, just because he was born albino and that is shown as a sign of weakness in the Cabal, then because Primus of the Red Legion, as a gift from Calus, and then Ghaul staged a coup to overthrow calus, and then calus was stuck on the leviathan drifting into space. this isnt meant to spite the writer in any way, its more of adding on to the point of destiny IS a cruel and crude world, and is really worth delving into.
